Slowing down to speed up
While this title may not make sense upon first glance, stay with me to hear the rest of the story.
My wife and I recently had the good fortune to spend 8 days in Aruba to celebrate our 35th anniversary. The time away was a great pause, even though I did have to do some work while there. When you have your own small business, the work never completely stops.
Slowing down is good to help one figure out where you have been, where you are going, and what you might need to change in order to be more successful. While in Aruba I had the time to clear my mind from the clutter of everyday activities for the most part so that I could think more clearly about the three things listed above. As a result, there were many ideas that I generated while away that I am excited about as I make the re-entry into the daily grind.
Each one of us needs to take time away from the daily shuffle to do that high-level review and reflection. We all get so busy that we often forget why we do what we do and often waste time or do things that really don't fit the direction we really want to go toward.
Aruba worked for me. Your time may be on the back porch, at the lake, or somewhere else where you can clear your mind.
Take the time to slow down so that you can speed up again.
I suspect you will be happy with the results once you do this.
