How do we effectively conduct a ME Day? Part 2
For those who are new to this newsletter. We have 1 day a week for each of our team members called ME Day to improve things related to the learning day.
It's what we call our thinking day.
I told my team to use it according to their strengths and means.
However, many start skipping it. So, I created this checklist.
- What assumptions am I making that need to be questioned? → Identify any hidden beliefs or premises you’ve accepted without examination.
- What if I took more time to let this idea simmer? → Consider the benefits of patience and allowing thoughts to mature slowly.
- What could be the long-term consequences of this decision? → Think through the ripple effects, considering outcomes years down the line.
- What are the deeper patterns or connections I’m overlooking? → Look for underlying trends, correlations, or systems at play that aren’t immediately obvious.
- How would I explain this idea to someone completely unfamiliar with it? → Simplify the concept to its core by considering how you'd communicate it to a beginner.
- What’s the quiet, underlying problem that needs solving? → Focus on the less obvious, perhaps hidden issue that’s at the root of the situation.
- What are the alternative paths I haven’t explored yet? → Consider different approaches or strategies you haven’t fully investigated.
- How will I explain this to a 10-year-old? → Break the concept down using everyday examples. Focus on "Why" and "How" Questions.
- What questions am I avoiding asking? → Reflect on the difficult or uncomfortable questions that could lead to greater clarity.
- What could be gained by pausing before acting? → Contemplate the value of waiting and observing before making any moves.
- What happens when I take a step back and look at the bigger picture? → Shift focus from details to see larger trends or patterns.
- What if I approached this as a marathon, not a sprint? → Adjust your approach to prioritize endurance and sustainability.
- How will this impact when we are serving 1000 clients per year? → Consider the long-term growth or transformation of the idea.
- What would a slower version of this solution look like? → Envision a more deliberate, thoughtful implementation of the idea.
- How can I embrace uncertainty as part of the process? → See ambiguity as an opportunity for creative exploration instead of something to rush past.
- What details could I be missing by going too fast? → Slow down to notice subtleties that could have a big impact.
- What do I need to pause and revisit? → Identify any areas that need more attention before moving forward.
- What’s the most deliberate way to craft this solution? → Focus on precision and care at every stage of development.
- Which area of the problem looks like a high risk? → Which part will break big if it goes under a lot of pressure?
- What other perspectives have I not yet considered? → Invite insights from diverse viewpoints to expand understanding.
