Slow Pandemics
SLOW PANDEMICS
Our new book on the age of disease - and why we need to integrate healthcare in our everyday life.
After more than two years of Corona we did not arise renewed and bursting with health. The next pandemic is already around the corner. However, it will not be caused by new viruses, but by our lifestyle.
Away from the media attention, the threat from lifestyle-related diseases (Non-communicable Diseases - NCDs) is constantly increasing. These include cardiovascular problems or type II diabetes, certain types of cancer, but also mental illnesses. They are caused by modern life and more convenience: pressure to perform, less exercise, unhealthy nutrition and too much time in digital worlds. It is no longer primarily older generations that are affected, but also increasingly young millenials.??
Since these diseases arise in everyday life, they can only be treated to a limited extent by hospital stays or medication. We need to change our behaviour. Accordingly, the relevant players in the future will no longer be only the classic providers of the health system, but companies that shape our everyday lives - from nutrition to mobility, from fashion to architecture and, of course, the designers of the digital world.?
The opportunities that arise from the reshaping of everyday life in the coming age of disease are shown in the new book Slow Pandemics, which was produced as part of the Future Society Association and is now available in German and English from NZZ Libro Verlag.?
The focus of the next innovation is the redefinition of quality of life, the return to blockbusters, a rethinking of the use of everyday data, but also digital therapies. Fight Fire with Fire!?
