2. ENTEK recently announced a brand new $1.5 billion dollar facility near Terre Haute, Indiana. The project will create 640 new jobs that will pay well above the local county wage. The new facility is being funded in part by a $200 million dollar federal grant from the Department of Energy.?#indiana?#manufacturing
3. Pharmavite LLC has broken ground on a new 225,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in New Albany, Ohio. The new facility, which will create 225 new jobs within the Columbus Region, will support the growth of Pharmavite’s national vitamin and supplement portfolio, including its Nature Made? and MegaFood? brands. #ohio

5. Read about how a small town in #northcarolina turned an old site into a redevelopment opportunity. About seven years and nearly $5 million in grants later, the 100-acre site—these days referred to as the Butler Hill Site—is expected to be ready around mid-2024. 6. I wrote in the previous edition that #alabama was considering renewing and expanding its tax incentives to attract companies to the state and low and behold the bill was recently passed.
7. Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to announce two business expansion projects expected to create a total of 65 new jobs and generate a total private investment of nearly $4 million have received support from the Michigan Strategic Fund. One of the projects is a reshoring from Mexico which is fairly interesting to see. #michigan
8. In March?Site Selectors Guild?announced its 2023 award winners.? PartnerTulsa?received the Projects with Purpose Award and?Florida High Tech Corridor?received the Community Innovation Award. ?#oklahoma?#florida?#siteselection
9. BorgWarner Inc.?(BorgWarner), a global leader in mobility solutions, announced plans to expand its facility in Oconee County, South Carolina. The company’s $42.7 million investment will create 122 new jobs.
BorgWarner is one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world, with 52,000 employees at 92 locations in 24 countries. For more than 130 years, BorgWarner has been a transformative global product leader, bringing successful mobility innovation to the market. #southcarolina
10. Amazon has officially requested its first payment of state incentives for its HQ2 project in Arlington, Virginia. The request is for $153 million and I find it interesting especially because the company announced a pause on the plans in Arlington. The company originally promised the creation of 25,000 new jobs and was given $22,000 in incentives per job ($550,000,000). #virginia #amazon
11. South Carolina recently celebrated the 5-year anniversary of Inland Port Dillon, which recently set a record for most containers handled in March since its creation back in 2018. March marked the busiest month in Inland Port Dillon’s history, with more than 4,300 containers handled. This is a 16% increase from the previous record set in December 2022. Inland Ports Greer and Dillon handled 17,541 rail moves combined in March.
12. Hillman Solutions Corp.?(Nasdaq: HLMN), a leading provider of hardware products and merchandising solutions, has opened its brand-new distribution hub in Belton, Missouri, a southern suburb of Kansas City. Relocating from Rialto, California, Hillman’s new facility is approximately 305,000 square feet and fulfilled its first shipment on Monday, April 3, 2023. Hillman’s decision to open a new distribution hub here in Missouri strategically positions them within 600 miles of 135+ million potential customers, helping them reach even more customers quickly and efficiently,” said G. Subash Alias , CEO of Missouri Partnership . “We are excited to welcome Hillman to Missouri, and we are looking forward to watching them grow in our state.”

14. Cypress Cold Storage recently broke ground on a 207,285-square-foot cold storage facility in Springdale, Arkansas that will offer its customers flexible storage solutions. The company, which provides temperature-controlled warehouse space and value-added services for the food sector, is expected to create 50 new jobs in the region when the project is completed in Spring 2024.

15. DataBank has broken ground on a new data center site in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed an expansion project in San Deigo, California. The US company last week announced the groundbreaking of its ATL4 data center in Atlanta. Located at 200 Selig Drive, the colocation facility will feature 200,000 square feet (18,580 sqm) of raised floor space and 4MW of capacity, expandable to 40MW. #atlanta #georgia #datacenter

21. Shells Inc., a manufacturer of sand cores for the foundry industry, is investing nearly $6 million to boost operations at its facility in Bourbon, Indiana. The company said Friday it will use the funding to purchase additional equipment and add nine jobs by the end of 2026. #indiana
22. Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed the Kansas Apprenticeship Act, which creates an income tax credit and establishes grant programs for qualifying businesses and organizations that employ apprentices in Kansas. For the next three years, employers who hire apprentices can claim a $2,500 credit per employee for up to 20 apprentices. #kansas #apprenticeship
23. Premium Waters Inc. , Inc. will invest at least $80 million to build a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on a 27-acre site in Seguin, Texas. The Minnesota-based bottled water manufacturing company plans to break ground before the end of this year and start operations in 2024. The project will create at least 60 full-time jobs with an average annual wage of $60,000. #minnesota #texas
24. Site Selection Magazine recently announced the winners of the 2023 Mac Conway Award. These awards recognize the efforts of those who worked tirelessly to bring projects large and small to their communities.
25. Solar power companies SEM Wafertech Inc. and Solar4America Technology, Inc. will establish their first South Carolina operations in Sumter County. The $65.9 million investment will create?300 new jobs. Operations at the new facility are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. #southcarolina #solar
26. Indiana Economic Development Corporation created a Trade and Export Promotion grant program back in 2020 that helps small businesses expand overseas. The grant program is a federal state-funded program that can be used for various export-related activities, such as trade shows, trade missions, compliance testing, certification for products, website globalization, and more. #indiana #export #trade
27. Louden County, Virginia recently developed an initiative to help local entrepreneurs. The centerpiece of the program is a new website,? launchloudoun.com, that consolidates a host of Loudoun-specific resources for small businesses — there’s information on everything from creating a business plan to applying for a loan to finding local office space. The department will also facilitate “large-scale events, targeted programs, partner counseling, and personalized 1-on-1 services with industry specialists.” #entrepreneur
28. Duke Energy Corporation is awarding more than?$125,000?in grants to 26 local and regional economic development organizations to spur new jobs and investment in?Indiana?communities. The grants are through Duke Energy's Partnership Program, which funds marketing and strategic efforts to grow cities and towns.
29. The Sioux Metro Growth Alliance recently announced a partnership with Harrisburg Economic Development Corporation. #southdakota #economicdevelopment
