Slitting blade material: help efficient slitting and achieve high-quality production

With the continuous development of industrial technology, the slitter has become one of the important equipment in packaging, printing, paper processing and other industries. Among the core components of the slitting machine, the choice of blade material is very important. This article will give you a detailed introduction to the material and characteristics of the slitting machine blade, and help you better understand this key factor, so as to choose a suitable blade material and improve production efficiency and product quality.

There are many kinds of raw materials for slitting blades, such as: T8, T10, LD, SKD-11, SKH-51, HSS, H13, Cr12MoV, 6CrW2Si, 9CrSi, etc., because the elements contained in steel are different, so they are produced The price of round blades and cutting machine blades varies from high to low.

So, in order to reduce production costs and improve production efficiency, which material to choose to produce the required round blades is the most cost-effective? It depends on the characteristics of the raw steel.

1) The material of T8 and T10 belongs to high carbon steel, which is suitable for processing some products with low wear resistance to blades, and requires the products to be cut to be relatively low hardness and relatively flexible. The main feature of the round blade made of high carbon steel is that it is cheap, and the disadvantage is that it is not durable.

2)9CrSi and 6CrW2Si belong to tool steel. Using tool steel to make round blades can make the round blades more wear-resistant, but the disadvantage is that the material is relatively brittle and the impact resistance is relatively poor, so it is suitable for cutting some thin objects.

3) LD, SKD-11, H13, and Cr12MoV belong to the mold steel, which is characterized by strong wear resistance and strong impact resistance. Therefore, the circular blade using die steel as raw material has a great advantage in service life.

In mold steel, the two most commonly used are SKD11 and Cr12MoV, so what are their advantages and disadvantages in comparison?

There are four main differences between Cr12MoV and SKD11:

1) The anti-cracking performance is different. Because Cr12MoV wear-resistant alloy is lower than SKD11, it is easy to form carbide aggregation, so the cracking resistance of SKD11 is better than that of Cr12MoV.

2) Die life is different. Due to the different content of wear-resistant alloys, the wear resistance of SKD11 is 2-3 times that of Cr12MoV.

3) The quality stability is different. The steelmaking and purification process of SKD11 is better than that of Cr12MoV, and the defect rate of Cr12MoV is higher.

4) The prices are different. Since SKD11 is better than Cr12MoV in all aspects, the price of SKD11 is higher than that of Cr12MoV.

In short, the selection of the appropriate slitting blade material needs to be comprehensively considered according to specific production requirements and process conditions. When choosing, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive evaluation in combination with factors such as hardness, strength, wear resistance, heat resistance, chemical stability and price of the blade. By comparing and analyzing slitting blades of different materials, you can find the blade material that best suits your production needs, and improve production efficiency and product quality.
