Slithering In
Starsigns, horoscopes, astrology and the lot don’t mean much to me - in fact, I’d hazard a guess that I might be one of the least spiritual people you’ll ever encounter. Part of my team, on the other hand, are fascinated by these topics and naturally, they had to brief me on what the Year of the Snake would bring for me, apparently born in the year of the dog. It’s taken me thirty years to discover my (very fitting, might I add) Chinese horoscope.
While somewhat generic, the description didn’t miss: 2025 should bring progress and stability, as well as collaboration and recognition. I should focus on combatting stagnation, setting boundaries and overcoming impulsiveness. I’ll let you know how I go, in particular with the latter.
If you’re wondering where my team dug up this valuable intel, you can find our very reliable source here. If it doesn’t set you up for a prosperous year, it’ll at the very least bring a bit of amusement to your mid-morning break!
What 2025 will certainly be is the year of the one-bedroom scarcity. Living arrangements have shifted since the pandemic, highlighting the importance of privacy for renters and buyers alike. Cost constraints in construction are seeing builders and developers favour larger floor plans, with many entry-level projects offering properties from two-bedrooms onwards. Layer those circumstances with the lack of standalone houses, which has already been driving buyers toward units for the past few years, and you’ve got yourself the perfect storm for increased price growth. 2024 was the year of the unit - will 2025 be the year of the one bedder?
Unit 302/88 Macquarie Street, recently featured in this realestate.com.au Agents article on the staggering price growth of one-bedroom units presents an opportunity to purchase a splendidly renovated heritage property, ready to move in and enjoy.
For those interested in securing a little more space, we’ve just launched Unit 217 in the Saratoga Woolstore. Occupying a prime position on the front of the building, this is an enviable 214 SQM residence with two car spaces, waiting to be discovered. Blending the vast feeling of a house with the sought after characteristics of a Woolstore, this apartment is a charming inner-city home!

2025 won’t only be the year of the snake and the one bedroom flats. It’s also set to be the year that a smattering of exceptional new venues hit the Brisbane scene. The masterminds at Anyday (the team behind Agnes, Honto and Bianca to name a few) have announced two new venues, the owners of Teneriffe institution Beccofino’s will reveal another Italian eatery in Newstead and from February, we’ll be able to grab Cartel Del Taco just down the road from our office! If you want to read up on what’s happening across the city, The Weekend Edition have rounded up what’s coming to town soon here!
On that note, I’ll leave you to peruse Brisbane’s culinary news - see you at our next open homes!
