Slimbridge Roman Villa
I have been digging at Slimbridge Roman villa in Gloucestershire. Positioned on what was once the bank of the River Severn, it was originally built in the first century as a development to a previous Iron Age settlement and before the founding of the legionary fortress at Gloucester. It may have fallen into disuse in the third century, although a coin of the Emperor Constantine from the early fourth century shows that economic activity in the area continued. Uncovered so far are three granaries, a possible latrine, and a bathhouse.
