Slice of life

I just went to this little pizza place by my house to grab a slice for lunch and when I walked in there was two mothers sitting with their daughters having a lunch date. Both of the little girls seemed to be mentally challenged. I couldn't help but overhear their conversation and the one mother asked if they were enjoying their time together and lunch. I thought to myself how nice it was to have something to look forward to even if that's just a slice of pizza and how it's good to have others to share what short time we have here with. The cashier motioned to me that my slice was ready so I walked up to the counter. I asked if the women had paid already for their lunches and he said yes. He said "they come in here a lot and they take really good care of those girls." I handed him a $20 and said well give them a gift card and their next lunch is on me. He stood there in disbelief for a second before he pulled out a gift card to put the money on it. I didn't do that out of pity or because I felt sorry for them because of their situations. I didn't do it just so I could come back and post this on LinkedIn to get likes or have people say wow that's really nice of you Jeremy. I just hope those little girls enjoy their next lunch date together and I hope after reading this you have the opportunity to help someone who you may have never met enjoy their time here a little more too.

9 年Jeremy Hettman - I am a HUGE fan of the Pay it Forward system and often pay for the lunch of the person behind me in the drive through...I'm gone before they ever get to the window and realize their meal was paid for by a stranger. It's a wonderful feeling just to hope you can touch someone's heart (and wallet) and give them a smile. -- MP
