Net Talent - Sleep in the Park

Net Talent - Sleep in the Park

When Yvonne first asked me to be part of the Net Talent team to ‘Sleep in the Park’, I agreed without hesitation. The chance to help a really worthy cause in Scotland, whilst getting to see one of my heroes in life Liam Gallagher for the third time this year – it seemed a pretty good way to spend an evening, but then reality set in….

Sleeping outdoors, in December, in Scotland, with temperatures likely to drop below the minus figures and snow or rain a high possibility… maybe not such an ideal night for me, who I’ll admit, loves his home comforts.

Whilst thinking about how on earth I’d keep warm for one night, it hit me. This is one night for me, but for too many people in Scotland, this will be a daily challenge throughout the winter – how do they keep themselves warm and safe in the bitter nights whilst the rest of us are tucked up with the heating on?!

Fortunately, there is a plan. Social Bite are aiming to eradicate homelessness in Scotland over the next five years by getting to the root of the problem and working towards a long term solution that will support people who really need it. This won’t be a short term fix to help a few, but steps towards genuine change in Scottish society that will see future generations grow up in a country that has no homelessness.

Sleep in the Park is part of a larger campaign and a chance for Scotland and its people to once again showcase themselves as progressive, world leaders.

Over the coming months Net Talent will be running a variety of fundraising events to support our efforts, so please keep your eyes peeled on our website for information on how you can get involved.

Anything you can donate towards our fundraising page is hugely appreciated, even if it is just the price of a pint tonight.
