SLEEP OR HUSTLE?

SLEEP OR HUSTLE?

This is a question asked a lot today so lets delve into it a little. First of all, do I believe that work ethic is a vital component of any success? Yes, I do undoubtedly, no one has ever made their own fortune without putting in obscene amounts of work. The hustle culture of today is often described as no sleep and all work but the truth is that it is all about making sure that your actions and time spent match your desired outcome or ambitions.

There are a lot of misconceptions today about the hustle culture that is perpetuated by motivational speakers who preach working 18-hour days and don’t have time to sleep because they are so passionate about what they do, and while this might be true for some people for a short period of time it is generally a recipe for disaster. Why should you have to play the dangerous game of bartering your sleep which the body so desperately requires to function optimally over long periods of time, for extra time to build a business or make money.

The question you should rather ask yourself is “what are you doing with the 16 hours a day that you have available if you sleep 8“ If you are watching 2 hours of TV a day and taking long lunches and spending time talking to mates on the phone and drinking in pubs then this does not seem to be matching your ambitions if you want to be super successful. If doing these things is what makes you happy though, then rather cancel your success ambitions and get your sleep, it will be much healthier for you. If you are talking a big game your actions must match it and you do this by eliminating hypocrisy and procrastination in your actions, not by eliminating sleep.

So, your daily hustle if you are passionate about something should be about squeezing every once of juice out of the orange, which is the 16 hours you have available to you after 8 hours sleep. Make sure that every minute of every day is not wasted and geared towards moving you in the direction you want to go, maximize your actions and as said in the first paragraph ensure they match your ambitions. Don’t say you want to lose weight while eating a Mc Donald’s burger. Put all you effort into achieving the goal you have set, make every waking minute count.

You have hustled correctly when you know the day you die that you gave it your all and didn’t waste it, you were the best parent possible, you built a fantastic business, you were a great friend, you never gave up until you reached all your goals, your philanthropy work was all in. You theorized, strategized and most importantly EXECUTED CONSISTENTLY

You can get 8 hours sleep a day and on weekends even get 11 hours if you like and be a massive hustler and put in all the work necessary by making sure that your actions match your ambitions and goals.

Wishing you phenomenal success
