We all know that sleep is quite important for our well- being, but still we tend to ignore it. Sleep is one of the 3 pillars of life that plays a major role in balancing other functions of our body, like, Digestion, Metabolism, Cell regeneration, Emotional balance, Creativity, Mental Clarity etc..

 According to many studies Both in Western science & Ayurveda, sleeping in early hours before midnight, is more Restorative. The less dreamy, and NON-REM sleep tends to be higher, if you sleep early.

 A study from University of Colorado at Boulder, proved that spending a week in camping kind of intense physical activities, helps in improving your Circadian rhythm, thus helps in solving your late sleeping issues.

 A study found that a there was significant increase in the number (around 2.77 million) of online search queries for INSOMNIA – between April & May – 2020, due to lockdown, in times of the PANDEMIC. This shows the intensity of the problem.

 Increase in body weight and Obesity , can be a specific reason for Sleep disorders as the excess number of fat globules disrupt the regular circadian rhythm from the cellular level and thus cause a change in our sleep cycles.

 The Blue light emitted from our digital screens also inhibits the production of sleep hormones, Melatonin, thus delays the natural onset of Sleep. Research even shows that , teenagers , need a minimum of 8hrs of Sleep , in order to deal with societal pressures like bullying, rejection , anxiety and Depression in later stages of life.

 Other research studies shows that, lack of good gut bacteria also is a strong reason for lack of sleep on a regular basis – Thus eating probiotic and prebiotic rich foods , plays a major role in improving sleep.
