SLEEP BETTER

Did you grow up hearing your grandparents or parents say, “I’ll sleep on it, then make a decision”??Ever wonder why???

Sleep Depravation?

According to?several studies, sleep and?decision-making?do go hand in hand. Not getting enough sleep?(sleep depravation) affects decision-making involving “unexpected?innovation, revising plans, competing distraction, and effective communication.”?You’re probably asking,?So?what does this actually mean and how does that affect me??

Basically, not getting enough uninterrupted sleep on a consistent basis poses difficulties for decision makers (parents, managers, military personnel, etc.) during emergency situations. For most decision makers, emergency situations can happen daily. Thus, getting?enough?good sleep is very important.?

?So, what’s good sleep??

Sleep needs vary from person to person, but according to the?Department of Health and Human Services?most adults need between 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night,?babies need 16 to 18 hours a day, children need 11 to 12 hours a day, and teens need at least 10 hours a night.?

The?Sleep Foundation?states that sleep quality is more important than quantity. Some characteristics of quality sleep are:?

  • You fall asleep after getting in bed, within 30 minutes or less?
  • You typically sleep straight through the night?
  • You’re able to sleep the recommended amount of hours for your age group?
  • You fall back asleep within 20 minutes if you do wake up?
  • You feel rested upon waking in the morning?

?What if I can’t get to sleep??

Getting enough sleep is something that may be hard to do with busy schedules. Research through Mental Health America states that not getting enough proper sleep can contribute to a myriad of problems such as depression, risk of heart disease, impaired memory, weight gain, and reduced immune system functioning.?RestEz?taken thirty minutes before going to bed can help with relaxing and sleeping more soundly without being habit forming.”?

RestEZ?is powered by natural ingredients, which work synergistically within your body— Melatonin,?Ashwagandha, L-Theanine, and Valerian Root.??

The hormone melatonin plays a role in your sleep cycle, but daily stress can deplete this much-needed hormone.?Various studies?concerning sleep and melatonin suggest that supplementation may help increase total sleep time with those suffering from sleep problems.?Ashwagandha?root extract contains properties that promote sleep for those who have insomnia and anxiety.?A study done in 2019?involving individuals from the ages of 18 to 60 showed significant increase in total sleep time and feel of restfulness the next day.?L-Theanine?is an amino acid found in tea leaves that promotes relaxation.?Valerian Root?has been widely used for inducing sleep and improving sleep quality.??

These four ingredients by themselves help promote quality sleep, but together you can be assured that your body will get the much-needed rest and sleep quality it needs to stay healthy.??

Essential oils have been used for centuries as an aid to promote falling asleep.?Researchers found that lavender?aromatherapy increased deep sleep in men and women, and they felt more energized the next morning.?Marjoram?and?Sandalwood oil?are two other essential oils that have been used in aromatherapy as a sleeping aid.??

Drinking a warm cup of?Herbal Tea?prior?to bedtime, along with taking the?Peak Performance Nutrition Pack?and a balanced diet and regular exercise helps promote better sleep.?

So as John Steinbeck said, “It is a common experience that a problem at night is resolved in the morning after the committee of sleep has worked on it.” Sleep on it and wake up with the ability to make good decisions.?
