At PhenoSys, we’re always looking for ways to improve the tools you rely on for your research. That’s why we’re excited to unveil an important update to our Mini2P Turnkey Solution. Introducing the New Mini2P Turnkey Solution with Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPM) Technology. ?This upgrade significantly improves the performance and precision of our miniaturized two-photon microscope, making it more compact, smarter and powerful.

The Mini2P is a powerful two-photon miniature microscope for large-scale calcium imaging in freely moving animals. Weighing approximately 2.6 g, it can be easily mounted on the head of an animal without interfering with its natural behaviour, ensuring precise and reliable observation data. This makes Mini2P a great choice for a wide-range of applications across brain and behavioural research

Previously, the system used external GaAsP photomultipliers with a collection fiber for signal pickup. Now, by integrating SiPMs directly onto the scope body, we’ve made the system more efficient, powerful, and precise. Let’s take a closer look at the benefits.

One of the most exciting features of this upgrade is the compact integration of the SiPM directly onto the scope body. The Mini2P’s smaller size and enhanced capabilities make it a powerful tool for studying large-scale neural network dynamics and allowing high resolution calcium imaging in freely moving animals

2. Enhanced Efficiency: Less Light Loss, Better Signal Detection

With the direct SiPM integration, the need for a collection fiber has been eliminated, which means less light is lost during the detection process. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) is significantly improved, allowing even weak fluorescence detection. This boost in efficiency is valuable for calcium imaging, where detecting weak signals is key to understanding cellular processes.

3. Superior Imaging Performance for High-Resolution Results

The SiPMs provide exceptional photon detection efficiency, which means you get higher-quality images with more detail. This is essential for two-photon fluorescence microscopy, where resolution plays a crucial role in obtaining accurate results. With this upgrade, our Mini2P captures high-contrast, high-resolution images, revealing finer details.

The integration of SiPMs makes the Mini2P especially powerful for advanced imaging techniques like Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM).
