The Sleazy Storyteller

"Those who tell stories rule the world" - Plato

?Persuasion is the centerpiece of business activity.? And the key to persuasion is 'Storytelling'. It is one of the essential skills in life from times immemorial. And yet undeservedly it carries a dark undertone. No wonder it is also one of the most misunderstood cultural nuances of corporate life.? You often end up using the term “sleazy” for those who have mastered this art – reeks of envy. Doesn’t it?

?Storytelling is an art and is not about lying.? It is the craft of weaving a half-truth in a way that appeals to the audience such that it becomes the most important truth of the story. It requires confidence, humor, flair to turn a story into an emotion and a belief.

And before you raise your eyebrows and turn away, we were born in this craft.? The art of storytelling has existed since our ancestors evolved to live as social animals. The education through those parables helped us survive through millennia.? Doesn't apply to you?? Think again!

"Until the lion learns how to write, each story will glorify the hunter" – African Proverb

Storytelling gives you an undeniable edge.? It can and is used to influence life in an unimaginable way. Thinking? Let’s get over that moral high ground and stop calling it names just because you haven’t been able to match up to it.? You can choose to run away from it or embrace it for your own good.?

In today’s age politicians are a living embodiment of excellent ‘Storytellers’.? And for everything that you blame politicians for, they undeniably are masters of this art. There's no better way to learn than to watch a master you admire.? Thinking?? Look around. I am sure you will recognize a few ??.

?As you begin your journey, be proud when others start calling you ‘Sleazy’ - as that is the best indication that you are starting to get a hang of the art. If in doubt remember,

?"Man by nature is a political animal" – Aristotle

Storytelling isn’t just for novels or movies; it’s the essence of persuasion in every field—whether in business, politics, or everyday life. ?? ??

Navneet Jhamb Hmmmmm..there IS a funky story in there...and it is hidden in the graphic...first there are the tell tale (pun intended ??) paw prints , liquid , of a cat, rear paws (lion cub). Then there is a Hippopotamus....with dentition like a human??....not the ' fangs' you'd expect to see, I mean gigantic incisors et al. And then there are the dead giveaways: Plato, African proverb and Aristotle...... Ergo the answer : Platypus ! Plat I Pus ( from pussy). That's the answer to this story - Platypus. Don't believe me ? The master himself alludes to half - truths in the second paragraph. And if you think I am spinning a tall-one-yarn....who started it ????!!!!! Master story teller Jhund..you inspire storytelling , that's how good you are ??
