Skyrocketing your team

I'm trying to learn lately about what makes a great team work, thrive, and deliver.

here are are some thoughts on that, hope it adds value.

People have been debating about the most effective ways to lead others for countless years, questioning their own beliefs, values, and behaviors!?

They’ve been trying to be experts in communicating, storytelling, strategic planning, encouraging, risk-taking, and lion taming!?

Alright, obviously that last one is a joke, but the exhaustive list goes on and on!

Even though there’s no esoteric definition, there’s but one simple conclusion:?

Achieving the best leadership standards significantly depends on the actions you intentionally (or unintentionally) contribute to your environment, or shall we say, culture?

Leadership and culture: Two Sides of the Same Coin

Culture is the way we conduct and conclude things around us.

As you explore identical industries, you’ll find individuals who believe in open communication, and others who only stick to what they’re told.?

The difference lies in culture, according to?Edgar H. Schein , a Professor Emeritus with MIT and a best-selling author.

In his book, organizational culture and leadership, Schein shared:?

When one brings culture to the level of the organization and even down to groups within the organization, one can see clearly how culture is created, embedded, evolved, and ultimately manipulated, and, at the same time, how culture constrains, stabilizes, and provides structure and meaning to the group members. These dynamic processes of culture creation and management are the essence of leadership and make one realize that leadership and culture are two sides of the same coin.

The Unnegotiable Need of Organizational Culture

When the leader instills reinforced values and creates a prosperous culture where people thrive, the workforce gets:

·???????Monumental retention rates and profitability

·???????Higher quality and work engagement?

·???????Better life and work balance

5 ways to elevate your team performance through a solid culture

Raise your awareness of your people, and transform it into a vision that enhances values and eliminates concerns.?

Easier said than done??

Here are 5 ways to construct a solid organizational culture and skyrocket your team performance.

1.?????????Craft the ultimate vision:

Don’t just tell your team what to do, inspire them so they want to do it themselves!

Showcase your goals and strategy that involves everyone. Conclusively, members will know it is headed this way, and have information about how each will play it to get there.?

2.????????Less talk, more action

Encourage wordily values to be reflected with actionable ethics. This’ll bring more sincerity, and demonstrate the indispensable, fertile culture you stand for.?

3.?????????Empower vulnerability

We’re humans before colleagues. Proceed with trust in others’ initiatives, empower their sense of authority and accountability, and meet failures with compassion before anything.

You can always get more done when entrusting people to make decisions than to wait for one person to make all the decisions.

4.?????????Humbleness thrives

You may have heard: humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less. It’s the perfect time to alter our ego into focus on the larger goal.?

Being humble means giving credit, admitting mistakes, listening first, and speaking heartfelt truth.?

When emphasizing humbleness, you shift people’s thoughts into: how can we achieve our end goal with the help of each other?

5.?????????A meaningful step at a time

Psychologically speaking, the need to connect and belong goes deep down into our roots.

Espousing a clear laid-out vision gets people the vibes they need to establish an impactful personal connection with their colleagues and daily work.?

To crown it all, celebrate achievements, milestones, and contribute to a healthier, hard-to-leave community?

Bonus: how you as a leader can positively impact culture?

Inspiring others is never an easy task, let alone in organizational culture.?

Here’s a start:

·???????Recognize efforts and empower team members with open communication

·???????Exemplify with a role model’s assertiveness

·???????Meticulously analyze team behavior?

·???????Act meaningfully to feedbacks?

Conclusion

From our daily operations to our moments of decisions making, leadership is?summarized in the way we interact and treat each other.?

Our behaviors, beliefs, and values may be mostly based on our background. Yet, raising conscience and awareness is the first step towards an exponentially prolific environment.

The more you recognize and appreciate your team’s efforts, the more you strengthen your organizational culture, and nurture a healthy environment where people can still play by the book, yet flourish freely.?
