Skretting Australia's Electric Forklifts: A Charge Forwards In Sustainability
Skretting Australia is leading the way in industry sustainability, actively working towards reducing its scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 3% annually. A significant opportunity in this space is identifying opportunities for electrification of their processes. We are proud to announce that we have completed the installation of our new electric forklift charging shed and will be soon transitioning to electric forklifts at our Cambridge facility. The new forklifts will also be implemented at our Westbury facility in the coming months.

The new electric forklifts are a game-changer for Skretting Australia’s operations. “The introduction of electric forklifts with heated cabins is a leap forward in operator comfort,” says Emma Piercey, HSE Manager at Skretting Australia. “Our team can now perform their duties in a more comfortable environment, which is especially important during the cold shifts.”
A New Level of Safety
The forklifts are also equipped with an innovative halo light system. “Safety is our top priority,” Piercey emphasizes. “The halo light system provides an additional safety net, making our warehouse operations even safer for everyone involved.”

Commitment to Emission Reduction
Transitioning to electric forklifts is expected to reduce Skretting Australia’s emissions by an estimated about 400 tonnes of CO2-eq annually. “While this number might seem small in the grand scheme of things, this reduction is equivalent to the annual carbon footprint of a 20-27 Australians,” Piercey points out. “It’s a clear indication of our commitment to making a positive environmental impact; every little bit counts!”
This project coincides with Skretting's parent company Nutreco's recentl announcement that moving forwards all purchased electricity will be 100% renewable. This decision will decrease the emissions factor associated with purchased electricity, driving even lower emissions for our electric forklifts.
