Skipping from one spot to another: A career-defining story of Jezabel Albuera

In less than a year, Jezabel Albuera went from being an intern to a reliever to an employee - a journey that defined and challenged her skill sets as a newcomer in the corporate world.?

Jezabel, or as her friends and workmates call her, “Jeza,” is one of the three interns who became a CaPEx employee.?

Jeza started as an intern in the Corporate and Admin Services (CAS) department of CaPEx, where she conducts inventory checking, file scanning, document filing, and a trial of a challenging task for an intern, that is to conduct an initial interview of applicants for the positions of drivers and checkers.?

“The struggle that I faced [was] when I was [conducting] interview [of] applicants [was] I felt nervous and my hands [were] shaking because I think negatively, that I cannot handle my job properly.” Albuera shared.?

That was her first glimpse of what was going on in the corporate world. It shook her for a moment, but she got back on her feet quickly and did what she had to do to complete the tasks.?

A few months later, Jeza was called in and asked if she was interested in being the reliever for the current Talent Acquisition specialist of CaPEx, “[Ms. LJ] asked me if I want to become [her] reliever, and I said “yes.” Jeza did not turn down the opportunity given to her as it was a significant opportunity at the time. “I said “Yes” because [at] that time, my father went [back] to the Philippines for a 3-month vacation, so he doesn’t work [at the] time, and no one will support our daily needs.” she shared. “I did not hesitate to say “Yes,” not because I can’t refuse, but rather, I accepted it because of my family,” she added.?

Upon giving that quick “Yes,” she knew she was en route to a different journey, not as easy as her previous experience with CaPEx, as she was filling an essential role in the company. “When I became a reliever, my daily routine changed. It gave me so much pressure because I needed to work [harder]. Looking for applicants, scheduling interviews, and processing their applications.” The job has put her in a very challenging position indeed, “It wasn’t easy, the nervous[ness] was still there, but I need to stand and fight my fears because as {an} HR Associate, [I] should have the guts to face applicants for the recruitment [team] to have a great employee.” she added.?

It was a challenging journey for Jeza, but it is indeed a journey that is worth taking. It prepared her for a more challenging job than what she did as an HR Associate.?

When her reliever post came to an end after four months, she was moved to a Purchasing Assistant under Finance and Logistics Support (FLS) department, it was a challenging job, but Jeza still managed to rise to what was expected of her, “I do handle it by trying the best that I can do [and] at the end of the day, I can say that I am productive and a good asset of the company.” Jeza expressed.?

Jeza’s career move from Human Resources to Purchasing will challenge her to discover more things out of her comfort zone. Even though it’s challenging, she is still looking forward to staying and seeing what’s in store for her in CaPEx, “Everyone in the company [treats everyone] as family. Lahat ng Empleyado ng CaPEx ay may mabuting pakikitungo sa kapwa nila empleyado.” she shared.?

Her story and journey with CaPEx is truly a career-defining moment for her, skipping from one place to another. “Never stop believing in what you can do. Continue to excel and make extra effort for [the] growth of the company.” Jeza shared. “You should always be compassionate [about] what you are doing, don’t be afraid to try on things and show your inner self. And use the company as your training ground, and the company will benefit [from] it. “ she added.?

CaPEx is truly lucky to have an intern-turned-employee like Jeza. CaPEx is glad that she uses the company as her training ground to become who she is today, and we look forward to encountering more individuals like her.
