Skip the Doctor, Visit a Dentist
When it comes to prioritizing our health, most of us instinctively think of visiting a doctor. However, what if I told you that visiting a dentist could be just as important, if not more, for maintaining overall wellness? In my new book, "Skip the Doctor, Visit a Dentist," I unveil the hidden connection between oral health and total body wellness, urging readers to rethink traditional healthcare paradigms and embrace a patient-driven approach to their well-being.
US Oral Health Epidemic
I was having a conversation with my friend the other day and he was telling me about his experience with dental and I am constantly shocked, even after four years of doing this just how common it at first I thought this was some rare problem to help people get healthier through their mouth and oral health. Now I know this is the main and primary way anyone will have success because this is where the problem starts and it makes sense to start by correcting it there as well.
We'll call him bill, (I changed the name of the patient for privacy purposes) he had been struggling with medical issues his whole life he was on a bunch of pharmaceutical medicine for pain and it wasn't getting any better.
That's when he called his brother and told them I think I'm ready to quit.
Don't quit before you do at least try getting a dental refresh and then if it still doesn't work keep trying I can't see you give up so easy.
Bill almost gave up on his life because of some pain in his mouth, he wasn't getting the care and the treatment he needed because he was being denied by his dentist or given a bill that he couldn't afford and the health insurance wouldn't pick it up either.
Luckily Bill found Stuart Nunnally DDS, she wasn't like conventional dentists that just focus on teeth. Stuart was an oral physician if you understood that he was a doctor first and that he happened to specialize in dentistry so he helped bill by giving him a dental refresh. everybody probably knows what a dental cleaning is were they scrape away the plaque but what most people don't know is that plaque starts to comes back within just a several hours. A dental refresh is something different it's talking about resetting the health of your mouth.
Bill got the procedure and he was surprised she no longer had any pain and he even was able to reduce his other medication it was a miracle. At first when I heard these stories I thought it was just coincidence but then I realized why this really is the number one problem in health. This is why I say skip the Doctor, visit a Dentist
Here are three reasons why dental is medical and getting your dental needs or your oral health needs met is the first and most important priority over any other.
Unlike traditional medical training, where the body is often viewed as a collection of separate systems, dentistry recognizes the interconnectedness of oral health with the overall health of the body. Research has shown strong links between poor oral health and various systemic conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and even Alzheimer's. By prioritizing dental care, we unlock a powerful gateway to better overall health.

Traditional dentistry focuses primarily on the mechanical aspects of oral care, such as fillings and extractions. However, the holistic dentistry movement takes a more comprehensive approach, understanding that oral health is not just about teeth and gums but a reflection of the entire body's well-being. Holistic dentists consider the impact of nutrition, lifestyle, and even emotional factors on oral health, empowering patients to take control of their well-being in a truly holistic manner.
While doctors often treat diseases once they have manifested, dentists excel in preventive care and early detection. Regular dental check-ups, cleanings, and screenings allow for the early identification of oral health issues before they escalate into more severe problems. By catching dental problems in their infancy, we can prevent unnecessary pain, discomfort, and costly treatments down the road.
One of the book's core messages is the importance of a patient-driven approach to healthcare. By embracing the guidance of expert dentists who understand the intricate relationship between oral and overall health, patients can make informed decisions about their well-being. With the right knowledge and empowered decision-making, we can take control of our health journey and achieve optimal oral health, leading to improved overall wellness.
Conclusion:
In "Skip the Doctor, Visit a Dentist," I challenge conventional healthcare norms and invite readers to explore the transformative power of prioritizing oral health for total wellness. By understanding the mouth-body connection, embracing holistic dentistry, and engaging in patient-driven care, we can unlock a new level of health and vitality.
