“In mind, I am a very good musician, the songs I think bout are countless and can recall hundreds of lyrics without reference. The major challenge I have is whenever I try to show off and sing in a Karaoke or in front of people, My voice simply refuses to cooperate with me to give the best tones as the mind is working out on the song. I try to project my voice but what the brain is thinking comes out 2% from the voice. I have come to realize that the brain is so perfect and willing to achieve perfection but it takes practice to realize the perfection in the brain.”-James Moses
A skill is the ability to carry out a task with determined results often within a given amount of time, energy, or both. It is evident that we all have thoughts about a given skill and the desire to use the skill to bring impact.
There are two main types of skills:

It is very possible that you are a natural musician, runner, artisan or speaker. Each time you remind yourself of how good you are and that, keeps you moving.
No one is born with skill in default. We all learn and develop an interest to perfect the skills we encounter useful in our life. That means it is much normal to have a thought that you are good at a skill because you were born in a family that is good at the skill.
However, if you are born in a family of runners, Does that give you the skill by default?. Does this apply to any other skill like accounting, interpretation, voice-over, typing and the likes?. The answer is No.
We might have been born in a highly skilled family but without practicing, the skill will never develop to a level that makes an impact. This means you will only have the skill in mind and not practical.
“What the mind thinks can be achieved”
The skill in the mind can only be realized by practicing over and over to achieve perfection. It is very normal for the brain to think perfectly on how to achieve a level of greatness, however without practicing and using the institutions for standardization to effectively place the skill, it becomes evident that all you will have is just a thought of the skill.
In today’s global market through the internet, people have lost businesses due to a lack of polishing their skills.
A sample of the many instances can be gotten from translation freelancers. Most of the translators have the advantage of being natives of a given language in question. However, if you ask them the question of mastering the correct diction and flow for the language, you realized that they have spent much time in school studying the same language of which they are natives.
Being born as a native of a given language does not necessarily mean that you are a natural translator of the language. There are international standards that have been set to ensure that the language is understood by different people reading your work and in that respect, as a native speaker, it is advisable to understand these guidelines.
“It is not of great help if you are a native speaker in one language and don’t understand the next language used in interpretation”
Other skills we might believe to have naturally might end up just be in the mind and without practicing, we cannot bring the impact expected in the freelancing world.
Bottom line, get to that vocal and sound school to understand voice over, get into that translation class to understand translation, get into that computer class to understand digital skills.
It is only through practice that we are able to master and use our skills to make an impact and earn a living.
“Practice practice makes perfect and If the mind begins actualizing the body will have to follow".
