SkilledUp Life assists tech startups in developing scalable digital products. This excludes software development companies, marketing agencies, digital transformation businesses, consultancies, or other service businesses. If your company does not qualify as a tech startup building scalable digital products when you sign up, SkilledUp Life deletes your account.

CREATE A COMPANY PROFILE

As a tech startup, once you sign up with SkilledUp Life, create a company profile, and make the profile inspirational by explaining what you are building and your status as a tech startup.?When you are ready to publish volunteer opportunities, you will need to subscribe to the appropriate pricing plan. SkilledUp Life has three pricing plans that offer the same benefits. These pricing plans are designed to suit the stage of a tech startup. The more investment a tech startup has secured, the higher the pricing plan.

At SkilledUp Life, we offer the freedom of canceling your subscription at any time you feel it's appropriate. We do not offer refunds, so once you unsubscribe after the end of the current month, no further payments will be taken.

PUBLISH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Once your pricing plan has been made you start to publish volunteer opportunities to leverage the free talent pool.?The talent is completely free, the subscription is to publish volunteer opportunities, access the dashboard, and get help when you need it. SkilledUp Life offers you a template to follow when posting volunteer opportunities. As a tech startup, when posting your opportunities, make them compelling to grab volunteer attention.

When volunteers submit their applications, be proactive and search for volunteers that fit your free talent requirement. At SkilledUp Life, we highly recommend that you respond to your volunteers as they apply. This is important as it makes them feel valued and encourages them to apply for other upcoming opportunities.?

After the volunteers are shortlisted,?single chat with your volunteers before the onboarding. This offers an opportunity to get to know the volunteer and get a sense of the commitment the volunteer can portray before onboarding the volunteer to the tech startup.

Before the project task commences, ensure both parties sign a volunteer agreement. There are three important aspects that SkilledUp Life requires you to follow and to be clear about and these are:

·?? You cannot pay volunteers, not even a stipend

·?? You cannot give volunteers any financial benefits which might have a tax implication, e.g. Amazon vouchers

·?? You cannot make promises of future paid work including contracts or employment

Volunteer commitment offers 2-3 hours of the day for a period of 3 months. By the end of the three months, you can cancel the volunteer agreement and enter into a commercial agreement if you are impressed by the commitment of the volunteer and you want to employ the volunteer to be part of your employee’s team. At this point of turning the volunteer into an employee, it is outside SkilledUp Life but you need to inform SkilledUp Life once you offer paid contract after the volunteer term.

Following the guidelines of the volunteer agreement will help to establish a mutual understanding with the volunteer as it is our understanding that once a breach has been made tech startup cannot sue a volunteer as volunteering isn’t the same as employment or commercial contracts. But rather seeking legal advice is highly recommended by SkilledUp Life in volunteer breach situations.

MANAGE VIA DASHBOARD

Once your volunteer poll is on board use the dashboard to manage opportunities, shortlists, and communicate with applicants. As a tech startup, you have a pool of free talent at your disposal to leverage their skills and talent for your startup development and growth, and SkilledUp Life does not put a limitation on how many volunteers you can source from our platform, but if you plan to have more than 3 volunteers we suggest you consider securing an HR volunteer first who can help you manage to source and onboarding volunteers.
