SkilledUp Life: Why completing your 3 Month Volunteer Term is a test of character.

SkilledUp Life: Why completing your 3 Month Volunteer Term is a test of character.

Is volunteering in the technology space worth exploring? Is abiding by a volunteer agreement doable? Is volunteering another test of character and resilience?

The above are some amongst many other questions that would readily come to mind when the subject of volunteering in the technology space is raised. Another question is, to what extent can the SkilledUp Life experience help in shedding light on these?

Well volunteering in a technology company can be a valuable experience for those looking to gain skills and build their resumes. However, completing an agreed upon volunteer term can also be a test of character.

One of the biggest challenges of volunteering in a technology company is dealing with the fast-paced and constantly evolving nature of the industry. Technology companies are often at the forefront of innovation and change, which can make it difficult for volunteers to keep up. This requires a certain level of adaptability and a willingness to learn and grow.

Another challenge of volunteering in a technology company is the competitive nature of the industry. Many technology companies desire to attract the brightest minds from around the world, which can make it difficult for volunteers to stand out and make their mark if they are not determined. This indeed requires above average sense of determination and perseverance from volunteers who want to learn and operate at that level.. For Skilledup Life’s volunteers, coming face-to-face with these realities should bring one up to speed with the state of the industry; anyone should clamour for such an opportunity to prove themselve.

Working in a technology company also requires a certain level of professionalism and responsibility. Volunteers are often given real-world tasks and projects that have a direct impact on the company's success. This means that they must be able to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and take responsibility for their actions.

In addition, volunteering in a technology company also requires a certain level of creativity and problem-solving skills. Technology companies often deal with complex and novel problems that require out-of-the-box thinking and a willingness to think outside of the box.

Finally, volunteering in a technology company requires a certain level of teamwork and collaboration. This is certainly the case with all the technology companies that are subscriber to SkilledUp Life. These companies rely on the collective efforts of many individuals and teams to achieve their goals. This means that volunteers must be able to work effectively with others and be willing to put the team's goals ahead of their own.

Overall, volunteering in any technology company can be a challenging and rewarding experience. It requires a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and adapt, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. Those who are able to meet these challenges and complete their volunteer term will have demonstrated a high level of character and will be well-prepared for future opportunities in the technology industry.

It is important to mention, that volunteering in a technology company is a win-win situation, not only the volunteer test their character but also the company benefits from the volunteer's work and ideas. It is a great opportunity for both parties to learn and grow. The volunteer gets the chance to work with experts in the field, learn new technologies and gain hands-on experience, while the company benefits from the volunteer's fresh perspective, energy, and enthusiasm.

Having enumerated the above, have? all volunteers at SkilledUp Life shown to understand the above? No, in many cases volunteers have not shown up for interviews. Some successful at roles have not shown up for onboarding; and some who do have also absconded from those roles - this expressly does not show resolve, determination and character.

In conclusion, completing an agreed upon volunteer term in a technology company through SkilledUp Life can be a test of character, but it is also an opportunity to gain valuable skills, build a professional network and make a difference in the industry. It is a chance for individuals to challenge themselves, push their limits and come out stronger on the other side. Those who renege from continuing, outrightly abscond from roles or refuse to put themselves to the test of character and competence may just have lost one more opportunity to prove to themselves that they can get things done.

I totally agree. Having almost completed my volunteering term myself I agree that it did test my character. However, a tip for those wanting to volunteer is to understand what you want to achieve before even applying to begin with. SkilledUp Life is an amazing platform to grow as the tech startup is growing.
