SkeyNetwork presents the Fashion Traceability News Thread #81
GO TRACE - More Traceability, for Responsible Fashion
Traceability rules, tips, events, networking, tools, laws, training and more, for the clothing industry.
Dear GO TRACE Community,
Welcome to the 81st edition of our GO TRACE Newsletter. For this new edition, we are glad to welcome back the support of SkeyNetwork on our mission to bring you fresh news on fashion traceability and transparency.
On Monday, we celebrated World Cotton Day.
This edition features a conference hosted by India’s Ministry of Textiles in collaboration with CITI and the Cotton Corporation of India, addressing megatrends shaping the cotton value chain. Topics included sustainable farming, traceability, ESG data, and productivity enhancement, highlighting cotton’s crucial role in livelihoods and economic growth.
Indeed, these key points discussed at the conference are at the heart of World Cotton Day, and I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the significance of October 7 in the fashion world. Proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2021, World Cotton Day is celebrated annually to highlight the importance of cotton as a global commodity. As the most widely used natural fibre, cotton sustains millions of smallholders and their families, especially in some of the world’s poorest countries. This day raises awareness of cotton’s essential role in economic development, trade, and poverty alleviation, while promoting a sustainable cotton sector that ensures better production, nutrition, and environmental standards, “leaving no one behind,” as the UN says!
I let you discover the rest of this edition for yourself!
