“The best talents are in your hands” were the opening words of Sandra Rimbot, Group Talent Management Director of LVMH. With “your” she meant the ambassador professors of the business schools that LVMH now counts among the best worldwide. And SKEMA with its fully redesigned Dual Master’s Degree in Global Luxury and Management in partnership with North Carolina State University is now part of these best programs selected by the N°1 luxury Group.
Skema’s Marketing Professor, luxury expert and Director of the prestigious dual Master’s Degree in Global Luxury and Management (GLAM), Dr. Michaela Merk, has been elected to be the school’s ambassador for LVMH linking the N°1 luxury player and GLAM students.
LVMH recognized that it needs the best talents in order to maintain the Group’s success and prepare its Houses for the future challenges. A very clever move in order to bring academics and business closer together through its new talent acquisition program Inside LVMV. “It has always been my obsession to bridge business and academics since I am convinced that both worlds need to complement each other and can learn from each other. During my entire professional career I have been in both worlds.” Michaela Merk
On October 18th 45 professors came together to look behind the curtain of LVMH and its houses representing excellence and luxury. The day started at the headoffice, 22 avenue Montaigne with presentations of the group’s top managers, including Chantal Gaemperle, Group Executive Vice President Human Resources and Synergies, Member of the LVMH Executive Committee, Ian Rogers, Chief digital officer and Sandra Rimbot, International Talent Acquisition Director LVMH.
In groups the professors were invited to discover the hidden world of excellence and craftsmanship of Louis Vuitton’s Atelier in Asnières, Chaumet Salons and High Jewelry workshop at Place Vendome or the Innovation Lab78 of Mo?t Hennessy.
“It was a very emotional moment to being invited to the secret atelier of Chaumet, which never opens to public. Small rooms filled with talent, passion, precision. What a feeling to carry a 2,5 billion crown on my head, signed Chaumet.” Michaela Merk
In order to round up the day of full immersion we could discover the amazing exposition "Christian Dior: Couturier du Reve” at Musée des Arts décoratifs. A collection of 3000 masterpieces and the most beautiful dresses celebrate the 70 years anniversary of the brand that was shaped by talented creators like John Galliano or Raf Simons. Every day this exhibition counts 4-5000 visitors. And all professors had the privilege to visit this stunning exposition in private.
Skema is looking forward to engaging our GLAM students to the projects and real cases LVMH will allow them to work on. Many thanks to the Employer Reputation and school relations team for making the move and reaching out to the academic world.
This is how academics can prepare its talents the best to their professional future and how LVMH can obtain the best talents and future leaders.
