BSIA announced as intellectual partner for SJUK Leaders in Security Conference
Security Journal UK is delighted to announce the addition of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) to the SJUK Leaders in Security Conference as an Intellectual Partner. Designed for senior security professionals, this exclusive, invitation only event will take place at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester on 16 July.
The SJUK Leaders in Security Conference promises over 30 speakers, with a fast-paced agenda covering multiple topics, from the built environment to cyber assurance, professional capability and more with panel discussions ranging from analysis about strategy to market challenges and opportunities.?

UKCMA announces appointment of new Chair
The United Kingdom Crowd Management Association (UKCMA) has named Anne Marie Chebib BA (Hons), PGDip as its new Chair, succeeding Eric Stuart QPM .
According to the company, Stuart will be retiring from his role as Chair of the association after five years and thanked Chebib for her dedication throughout his tenure.
“All we have achieved is down to her support and unending commitment to this Association and its members,” said Stuart.
“Thank you, Annie, for all you have done, continue to do and for what you will do for years to come.”
Deadline to secure IoT devices
In this exclusive article, Secured by Design (SBD) National Manager and Secure Connected Devices accreditation lead, Michelle Kradolfer shares some important advice about the UK’s consumer connectable product security regime which comes into force this month.
The Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act was introduced as legislation in 2022.
In April 2023, the government announced a one-year deadline for manufacturers, distributors, and importers to comply.
With the 29 April deadline upon us, SBD’s Michelle Kradolfer is keen to underline the vital importance of the Act and what non-compliance means for the industry beyond the penalties imposed.?
AUCSO names Figen Muray OBE as its first Patron
The Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO) has announced Figen Murray OBE as the organisation’s first Patron.
According to the company, the announcement is a pivotal moment for the organisation and marks the beginning of a new chapter.
“I am honoured to be AUCSO’s first ever Patron, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary and I look forward to working with them as its members deliver the best standards of security on university campuses across 22 countries,” said Muray.
Murray is the mother of Martyn Hett, one of the 22 innocent people killed in the Manchester Arena terrorist attack on 22 May 2017 and is the driving force behind proposed counterterrorism legislation, known as Martyn’s Law.

Project Focus: Digifort UK develops Dell servers for VMS and neural analytics operation
DIGIFORT UK has collaborated with Dell Technologies to enhance servers for both its VMS and neural analytics operation.
According to the company, VMS servers are focused on video processing and need CPU (Central Processing Units) for optimal operation, whereas analytics servers require GPU (Graphics Processing Units) for analytics processing.
Digifort is a Nvidia technology partner, designing its software for optimal performance on Nvidia GPUs.
With smaller systems, the GPU can fit within the VMS desktop server, reducing costs.
Product Focus: IDIS to feature new product at The Security Event 2024
IDIS has announced an expanded range of its edge AI cameras and a new 2MP video intercom will be unveiled at The Security Event (TSE) 2024.
The event takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 30 April – 2 May and IDIS reports it aims to demonstrate how it is easier than ever for customers to benefit from deep learning video analytics.
According to the company, IDIS edge AI range are now NDAA-compliant and will reduce false alarms, improve the responsiveness of security teams and support efficiency with faster forensic search and investigation via metadata.
Equipped with the up to 98% accurate IDIS Deep Learning Engine on the edge, the nine new models – including 2MP, 4MP and 5MP bullets, domes and turrets and PTZs – deliver accurate detection and auto-tracking of suspicious individuals and vehicles enabling a response to alerts for intrusion, line cross and loitering events.
