A Sizzling Startup Week

A Sizzling Startup Week

For those that don't know me, I am a little bit in LOVE with startups, startup culture and the world of business.

So whilst most weeks have a little startup sizzle, this week is on fire guys and I'll share some of the people and the lessons I've learned from them. There are going to be a lot of shout outs here so I hope you all realise how much I appreciated your time this week.

Emily O'Byrne of FBIZZ - we met to talk about FBIZZ moving into training and potentially working with Jivjav and it quickly escalated into a really nerdy talk about website platforms, startup culture and how FBIZZ do networking events. I came away from the meeting thinking I cannot believe this is my job to do this!

Farhan Rehman then invited me along to his Blab show all about the lessons learned from the Supercharge Summit he'd attended over the weekend and I got to know just how intelligent and exciting person to work with he is. We're now collaborating on a Facebook group for tech startups in London.

I had a mentoring meeting over Skype... but the name is a secret so you'll have to settle for it being a surreal and amazing experience with a top guy who knows what he is doing.

I then met Andy Partridge at Shoreditch House where I did a terrible job of hiding the fact that I could happily have lived there. The place is amazing and the meeting was phenomenal.

We discussed the possibility of working together to create amazing events where him and a strong collection of contacts would deliver outstanding TED style talks that can really shake up the way companies are looking at their workforces and retaining quality employees. With my help to expose the events to the right people using social media, ticketing marketplaces and good old fashioned hustle.

Wednesday then brought with it the Twitter Powerhouse that is Mike Yanda who took time out of his schedule to teach me tactics, tools and systems that could help me grow my twitter following to incredible levels and with strong engagement figures. The early progress on @thedangrice has been amazing so I'll be pushing these tactics to my @jivjavdan account soon too!

There was then the little incident whereby I was only one of two amazing guests on The Missing Link Podcast with Sean Jackson! It really put everything I've been learning about public speaking and delivering on message to the test and I think we put on a great show. It was one of the best and most challenging experiences of my life to date.

Now that sounds like a great week, but I'll raise you with those things yet to come:

- meeting the phenomenal Mariana who works for possibly the coolest company I know Metaspeech. About working together with Jivjav to deliver their courses to the kind of audience our market place brings to the table.

- a call with Grant Weherley of Monetise Your Expertise (and associated podcast) to discuss how he can help our providers to produce online courses that deliver the value and quality that their brands are associated with

- it wouldn't be a week if I wasn't spending some of it with Paul Ince of Thryyve and we'll be discussing social media strategies and in particular Snapchat for business purposes.

So if you're still here, thanks for reading and thanks for your time. Just a lot of thanks really for a simply amazing week and long may the startup sizzle continue. I apologise if I haven't mentioned you as I've met many more amazing people inc Franc, Baldwin, Dan, Paul, John, Doug.... But stay in touch and I'm sure my greatest days will continue.
