Size Does Not Matter!

Our human brain has convinced us that size often means better. No this isn't a biology lesson but I'm talking about small charities that want to address complex social issues.

Research done by the Lloyds Bank Foundation has proven to show that when it comes to issues like homelessness, mental health & domestic abuse that smaller charities have a more distinctive impact.

How is this possible if the bigger organisations have more money and resources? Well these next few points will really make a difference in who you may choose to support or donate to:

  • By creating familiar spaces with easy access the small charities become the 'first responders' by filling in the gap that public services or larger organisations can't cater for,
  • The power of relationships: Small charities whether it's the service provider of the fundraiser. Research has shown that people are more likely to stay in touch throughout their journey because they're not dealing with large volumes in a short space of time. The quality of the service therefore will also improve the quality of the relationship with the small charity.
  • The money, often When it comes to cuts the larger organisations feel it more whilst smaller charities can be agile and adapt. Also the running costs of a small charity is a minimum of 3x more efficient than public services or larger charities.

In conclusion to the above there is a fear among small charities and what they're current experiencing financially but with the right campaign their situations can change. If you require strategic advice then get in touch via [email protected]
