There’s no denying it: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising how we work. Although the full impact is yet to be seen - this article isn’t going to offer a prediction of dystopia. Instead I want to share how I recently reframed my view on the potential of AI.?

Yes, it can decrease costs and increase efficiency, but what if AI could also remove the monotony from day-to-day tasks, enhancing productivity, creating great customer and team experiences, and elevating job satisfaction giving you a unique competitive advantage: your people.

AI isn't just about cutting costs; it's about increasing value and supercharging what makes you and your people truly unique. AI allows your team to be more human: more creative, strategic, reflective, empathetic, responsive, and much more.

Identifying Runners, Repeaters, and Strangers

Before diving in, it's important to find the best place to start testing and implementing. Start with small repetitive tasks. Here’s how I was taught to break it down:??

  • Runners: Tasks that occur frequently and predictably, like data entry or report generation.
  • Repeaters: Regular tasks that vary in specifics, such as payroll or performance reviews.
  • Strangers: Infrequent and unpredictable tasks, like crisis management or unique project challenges.

Automating runners and repeaters can free up significant time and resources, allowing your team to focus on human elements: spending more time with customers, solving problems more effectively, and being more creative.

Great article ????. Our work and lives are so complex that we tend to employ rules of thumb in the assessment of characteristics to support our decisions because the cost of getting a decision exactly right in terms of time and resource was historically prohibitive. With the use of AI, the ability to run complex predictive analysis to solve complex and wicked problems will be a game changer. Of course the trick is how you put AI to work in your own organisation. Einstein said If he had an hour to solve a problem he would spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and asking the right kind of questions before using the remaining 5 minutes to solve the problem. We need to make sure we are solving the right problems .
