The End of ESG

Farewell, ESG. We hardly knew ye.

ESG (an emphasis on environmental, social and governance issues) has struggled to take shape, and both Fortune and the Wall Street Journal pretty much declared it dead in the U.S. in the past week. (It continues strong in Europe.)

The fading of ESG will have broad implications for insurers. Those will start with coverage for the directors and officers who have had to wrestle with ESG considerations and will extend more subtly into many other lines by affecting how clients run their businesses and how they invest.

I do not think ESG is dead. I think the acronym has become politicized but companies are still doing work in this area

Thanks Paul Carroll Insurance Thought Leadership for featuring my latest article "For Those Who Care About CX" in this week's edition of Six Things. There is significant upside -- within reach -- for carriers and their partners to devise, design and deliver CX that meets or even exceeds customers' rational and emotional needs -- and connect CX investments to financial and other stakeholder objectives. Excited to see that this is a priority many insurers are taking seriously.
