Six steps to developing enthusiasm

Enthusiasm is an important, basic element in successful living. The alive type of personality always goes places when that aliveness is accompanied by positive thinking and solid faith.

1. The first thing is to employ "as-if" principle, which can be employed in development of any personal act. Act as if you had enthusiasm and it will tend to develop in your mind.

2. Practice being enthusiastic about simple things. For example, look at the weather. Isn't it pleasant?. Admire the cleanliness of office. Compliment someone on their attire. Enthusiasm for simple things will add up to a general attitude of enthusiasm.

3. Every morning, as you go to work, tell yourself that you love your job. Think of it as interesting, even as fascinating.

4. Look for the likeable qualities in people. Daily as you board bus, train, or metro, tell yourself that you really like people. Do this even when they push and shove you. Act towards them as if you were enthusiastic about them. In the meantime, they will become enthusiastic about you.

5. Every morning say aloud "This is the day created for me, I will rejoice and be glad in it" Another good day! It sums up in your love for your life. You will become an enthusiast.

6. See how many "wonderful things" happen around you daily. A spectacular sunrise, cute face of a baby, a tree in full bloom, a rare drizzle and smiling face of an old man. As you emphasise the wonder of life, you will develop that wonder of the attitude called enthusiasm. And you, too, will become more wonderful.

When you practice these enthusiasm development acts, not only your enthusiasm but also you will grow with it.

PS: Inspired from the book "The power of the plus factor" by Norman Vincent Peale.
