Six Secrets of SaaS Success

Six Secrets of SaaS Success

By Zandra Moore, CEO of Panintelligence

Great talking with SaaStock Founder Alex Theuma on the SaaS Revolution Show about the six secrets of SaaS success. I share my journey from employee to entrepreneur and how Panintelligence came to be (carrying a server across a carpark!). How I raised ï¿¡4.5M in 2019 through private equity and VC funding and why there are not enough women in Tech or Female Founders raising investment. It is always refreshing to meet network leaders like Alex who are interested to learn and engage on improving diversity in tech, especially when they run important groups like SaaStock Founders.

As a sneak preview to the Podcast read below my summary of the Six Secrets to SaaS Success....to find out how we do this at Panintelligence and what we are hearing from our SaaS customers watch and listen below.

Six Secrets to SaaS Success

  1. Proving product-market fit earlier at scale: Faced with a more challenging funding environment, SaaS businesses seeking investment must show they can consistently compete and win in a segment or category and prove scalability sooner than ever.
  2. Greater clarity around the metrics that drive growth: The metrics that matter have changed significantly. While usage and user numbers used to be critical, smart SaaS businesses now focus on how effectively and efficiently they can win customers and keep them. Cost of acquisition and burn ratios are now the new 'North Star' metrics of choice in today's capital-constrained world, as firms seek to show that growth can be achieved sustainably.
  3. Thinking global and seizing international opportunities faster: Greater economic and political uncertainty means SaaS businesses are looking beyond their domestic markets earlier than ever in their development. They are doing this to spread their risk and find a larger pool of 'lookalike' customers in their key verticals.
  4. Providing real-time data insight into people performance: Relying more on distributed hybrid teams, the most successful SaaS businesses are focusing on giving workers at every level and function real-time visibility into how their performance impacts company progress. Providing real-time insight into performance in an easy, compelling way is now a crucial part of SaaS culture and communication.
  5. Moving back to old-school alliances: For B2B SaaS businesses, there is more focus on strategic partnerships. This mainstay of tech go-to-market strategies had gone out of fashion. But it is now back in a big way as vendors leverage networks, complementary technologies and highly-aligned alliances to provide more powerful, more holistic propositions to mutually perfect customers.
  6. Ignoring the 'next big thing' in favour of relentless execution: The SaaS industry is entering a new phase of pragmatism, with the best focusing relentlessly on delivering and refining practical solutions that address customers' real needs now. Yes, the likes of ChatGPT should be explored, but successful SaaS businesses are focusing much more on the here and now, while avoiding the distraction of highly-hyped but unproven technologies.
