Six Proposed Substances for SVHC Status

Member States on request of the European Commission, had propose six substances that could be classified as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs), in accordance with the requirements set out in Annex XV to REACH. All interested parties are invited to submit comments on such reports during the consultation.

The six proposed substances are:

  • 6-[(C10-C13)-alkyl-(branched, unsaturated)-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl]hexanoic acid (EC 701-118-1), used in lubricants, greases, release products, and metal working fluids.
  • O,O,O-triphenyl phosphorothioate (EC 209-909-9), used in lubricants and greases.
  • Octamethyltrisiloxane (EC 203-497-4), used in various products, including cosmetics, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and sealants.
  • Perfluamine (EC 206-420-2), used in electrical, electronic, and optical equipment.
  • Reaction mass of: triphenylthiophosphate and tertiary butylated phenyl derivatives (EC 421-820-9).
  • Tris(4-nonylphenyl, branched and linear) phosphite, used in polymers, adhesives, sealants, and coatings.

The ECHA is inviting comments and information from stakeholders until October 14, 2024. This input will help inform the agency's decision on whether to classify these substances as SVHCs.
