Six Business Lessons to Learn this Navratri
The legend of Navratri talks about the great battle between the powerful demon Mahishasura and Goddess Durga. Mahishasura had attained an immortality boon from Lord Brahma. According to the boon, only a woman could defeat him. The overconfident Mahishasura attacked the?Trilok?– heaven, earth, and hell, to gain power over all three.
Seeing the havoc, the helpless Gods turned to the?Tridev?– Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, for help. Lord Vishnu suggested creating a powerful woman?shakti,?amalgamating the powers of the three Gods. This was the only way to stop Mahishasura.
Goddess Durga was thus created, powered by the strengths of the most powerful Gods. Riding on a lion/ tiger, she fought with Mahishasura for 15 long days. It was a fight that shook the earth, heaven, and hell.
During the war, the demon kept changing his form to confuse Goddess Durga. Ultimately, when he was in the form of a buffalo, Goddess Durga pierced his chest with a?Trishul, killing him instantly, restoring peace on the three?Loks?again.
Navratri literally means ‘nine nights’ which are dedicated to Goddess Durga’s nine avatars that are considered most auspicious. Each day is dedicated to a specific form of the Goddess.
While the main lesson of this festival is the victory of good over evil, I couldn’t help but think of other learnings which we can apply to our day-to-day life.
1.? Be careful of the power you give to others. If Brahma had not given an immortality boon, the situation would have never risen.
2.?????Even the best ‘boon’ comes with a fine print! (In this case, the clause that a woman can defeat Mahishasura.)

3.?????Do not underestimate the power of someone you consider ‘weak’. Those days, women were considered weak, and thus, everybody including Mahishasura was confident that a woman had no chance in front of him.
4.?????A great leader comes up with an innovative solution to the gravest problems. When everyone else couldn’t see a way out, Lord Vishnu came up with the idea of creating Goddess Durga.
5.?????Teamwork always pays. Even the Gods came together and merged all their strengths to create a powerful Goddess.
6.?????Do not give up. Mahishasura kept changing forms, but the Goddess never gave up. She fought relentlessly, day and night, till she restored peace in the world.
Any others you can think of ? Would love to hear them. Keep adding to the list.
Happy Navratri to all of you.

3 年Sir, I enjoy reading all your posts which are very beautifully drafted and especially related to the Indian Heritage and culture. However, I have only one request. Instead of mythology if we can have a better term. As it's a proven fact that the Indian History and so called mythology is not a myth at all...????
