SIUT Celebrated the 33rd Anniversary of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan and Defender of the Homeland Day

On the eve of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and January 14th – Defenders of the Homeland Day – a ceremonial event under the motto “The Army of New Uzbekistan – the Pillar of the Nation, the Pride of the People!” was held on January 11, 2025, at the Samarkand International University of Technology. The celebration served as a vivid reminder of the importance of service and the heroic deeds of those who safeguard the security of the homeland.

The event began with speeches by veteran officers, whose words became a true lesson in patriotism for students and guests. Alisher Igamberdiev, Head of the Inspection Service at SIUT and a reserve lieutenant colonel, emphasized the importance of generational continuity and the role of youth in strengthening the nation’s defense capabilities in his address.

The honorary guest, Tursun Buriev, a reserve lieutenant colonel from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, spoke in detail about the achievements of the Uzbek army — the strongest in the Central Asian region. The veteran shared the successes of Uzbek servicemen in international competitions and military games, as well as the growing interest in military service among women.

Rector of SIUT, Professor Yusuf Abdullaev, a veteran of the Afghan War and an internationalist soldier, shared personal memories of his service on the frontlines, stressing the importance of maintaining humanity and compassion even in the midst of war. His words served as a reminder that peaceful life is the result of the dedication and courage of the defenders of the homeland.

The festive program was enriched with songs and performances by students who recited poems about service and the challenging profession of defending the homeland.

A special highlight of the event was the demonstration by soldiers of Military Unit No. 13060 of the Samarkand garrison. They showcased their skills in hand-to-hand combat and weapon handling, earning thunderous applause from the audience.

In honor of the holiday, a display of modern military equipment and weapons was set up in the university courtyard, sparking keen interest among students and faculty. The atmosphere of the celebration was further enhanced by military marches performed by the Central Military District Orchestra, creating a unique sense of unity and pride for the country.

The celebration of Defenders of the Homeland Day at SIUT was not only a tribute to the military personnel but also a reminder that peaceful life and stability are the results of the hard work, courage, and selflessness of those who stand guard over the nation’s security. The event concluded on a high note, leaving all participants with a profound sense of pride for their homeland and its heroes.
