The situation in Brazil, part 4
Last time I wrote an article was in May 2016, just after the parliamentarian coup that ousted President Dilma Roussef illegally (because there was no responsibility crime, as it is required by the constitution for an impeachment process to be installed, and as it was proved not to be the case afterwards), I vowed then to write something only after democracy was reinstated in the country.
The image I chose to illustrate this article is the iconic image made by Ricardo Stuckert on the eve of Pres. Lula's imprisonment in the fake Lava Jato operation (now recognized as the worst case of lawfare in the world). President Lula was illegally imprisoned for 580 days until our supreme court recognized what everyone knew, the condemnation was bogus since the initial judge was incompetent for the process and was declared partial. As the image proves, many people knew that already then, but we had to endure one of the worst presidents of the planet, an incompetent extreme right wing (pseudo Trump) politician, believed guilty of having caused the deaths of about 400000 additional deaths during the Covid crisis. Only after this and after the incompetent handling of economy, the Brazilian society reconciled with president Lula's supporters resulting in his election last Sunday.
This election was not easy, the former government passed at least two unconstitutional laws, violated the election laws, trying shamelessly to buy the reelection. The former government bought the support of the legislative power by distributing budget money to be spent in corruption, the largest scandal in the world, at least in a supposedly democratic country. The dire economic situation, which led 30 million people to move to extreme poverty made our judiciary power powerless to avoid the evident fraud, due to the social crisis.

Regardless of all this, the election was won by President Lula. I suspect there is a psychoanalytical aspect in this victory. The history of President Lula is almost identical to one of our most powerful archetypes, the hero's journey (he went to hell, the federal prison in Curitiba, and resurrected to win the presidency again) and there was really a supernatural feeling in the campaign, which animated the militancy.
The extreme right continues existing. The president's supporters are promoting blockades in highways saying they do not recognize the election, and the police is either complicit or powerless to remove these blockades, but we are confident that the new government will recover the country and its place in the world. We thank the support of the international community, which was important, especially in this last month.
A new era starts now, we are confident Brazil will return to its path leading the world in issues like #sustainability #democracy and in fighting #globalwarming as well as in promoting #peace among the countries.
