SITTING WITH GOD

SITTING WITH GOD

It is so important for us to learn how to sit with God and to listen as He speaks. This can be quite a challenge. The moment we choose to sit in silence our own thoughts and feelings can sometimes get in the way. But, silence is powerful. We must learn how to manage/handle it.

Not all moments of silence will bring us the best of results. We can be in silence and come out cussing and yelling violence and revenge, and we can come out of silence seeking peace and spreading forgiveness and blessings. Why? Make no mistake, apart from our own rebellious nature, there are voices from the spiritual realm that can also cut into our frequency and assault us as we are seeking to focus on God. They can pollute our silence if we don’t cover our minds with the Blood of Jesus and guard our minds through the Power of God’s Holy Spirit.

Sitting in silence with God must come after we have made a decision to seek Him. We can seek Him just to enjoy His presence. Then, in our hearts, we can spend time with Him reflecting His years of goodness to us. Guided by His spirit, deep within, we can sing Him praise as we worship Him. We can also seek Him for His help. In times of trouble and distress we can go before Him. We can tell Him about all that’s challenging us.

A word of caution: Never sit in silence with God without faith and trust in Him. As a matter of fact, it is our faith and trust in Him that should motivate us to sit in silence with Him. He is able to do things that seem impossible to us so that we can be aware of His protection, His provision, and His peace. .

In the Psalms we discover how deeply rooted out faith, trust and belief …our confidence…. in our relationship with Him should be. Hear the earnestly in the cry of the voice of someone who is totally dependent and expectant in the presence of God to make his/her life meaningful and worthwhile in this life:

“My soul, praise the Lord! Every part of me, praise his holy name! 2 My soul, praise the Lord and never forget how kind he is! 3 He forgives all our sins and heals all our sicknesses. 4 He saves us from the grave, and he gives us love and compassion. 5 He gives us plenty of good things. He makes us young again, like an eagle that grows new feathers. 6 The Lord does what is fair. He brings justice to all who have been hurt by others., “ (Psalm 103: 1 – 6 ERV).

God caters for us in all sufficient ways as we spend time on the face of the earth.

MY SILENT TIME WITH HIM THIS MORNING

Here’s what my silent time with Him revealed this morning. I will not tamper with these thoughts by adding my own feelings on how they affected me.

Let them minister to you in whatever way the Spirit leads.

·     ? In all situations that we experience, ANGER seldom helps, if it helps at all!

? God sometimes challenges us to shut out all familiar things: friends, family, and old experiences, so that we can hear from him DIRECTLY, see things in ways we have never seen them before, discover where he is leading us, so that we can make bold decisions to trust Him more.

? Self control is private. You get nowhere when you invite people into that private place. It is where you discover “YOU!” It is where you make sense of the WISDOM, courage and strength that God has vested in you. It makes you humble in your relationship with others.

? When you go to God, go expecting God to take away some things that you may prefer to hold on to. In every relationship with God, sacrifice will bring resurrection.

? The pursuit of God is a spiritual adventure in this corporeal realm. Look within to conquer what is outside

May silence with God bring you peace as you journey through this day
