Sitting with the Body

Sitting with the Body

“Your body is the doorway into your Being” – Eckhart Tolle.

  • Do you know your own body?
  • How often do you spend time with your body?
  • Did?you know?your body is a conduit to your deeper self?

This meditation is the start of a 4-part meditation on the totality of who we are as a human being - the body, the mind, the emotions, and the spirt - also known as the "the four aspects" of who you are.

In Emotional Intelligence literature, we talk about being 'embodied' as a way of deepening our awareness. To be 'embodied' means bringing your?awareness to what your?body is doing, how it is 'located' or?'placed',?and feeling the sensations passing through it at any given time.

What does this give you?

A deep sense of balance?and connectedness - emanating from?all four?'aspects' at any given time. This translates into a deep?feeling of?calm, and?an ability to operate (or do what you do), using all your?energies in your day-to-day and moment-to-moment doing. It's a totally?new kind and type of 'doing' (!) characterised by focus, flow, and concentration. Interestingly, the term 'mindfulness' comes from the word 'sati', meaning?'concentration' or 'paying attention'.

I once had a mentor who was always calm. I never saw him stressed or rattled. He was one of 'those people' who?always appeared to 'have it together'. One day, I plucked up the courage to ask him his secret to remaining so calm under pressure. His response was?"Jude, I pay attention to my body. It is my anchor and source of strength".

At the time, I didn't fully understand what he meant. Perhaps at the time, it was not?time for me to understand. Now I do, which is why?I'm sharing it with you...

In today's meditation, we get in touch with the body, every sensation in the body, as best we can, and sit with the feeling, allowing the inner body to introduce its limitlessness to us.. Join me for this 10-min LIVE recorded meditation...
