During execution of one of the Sitecore project, we came across the disappointed statistics of Google PageSpeed for the site, reason being images that client has shared was too large in size and those are for around 70 different locations (sites). We wanted to optimize the images beyond Sitecore default optimization process.
So, we did the research on two external tools “Kraken” and “Dianoga”. We finalised the “Kraken” because it compresses the images respected by Google algorithm where in “Dianoga” few of the images not compressed as per Google algorithm.
You may see the comparison between Kraken and Dianoga in below URL: https://www.unravelsitecore.com/sitecore-image-optimization/
Then we developed a module in which uploaded images getting optimized by Kraken and saved as a media item. There are no manual steps to be performed.
Soon, we are going to launch this module, you will see this on Sitecore Marketplace.

5 年Would be nice if the module can return WebP to supported browsers?
