Sitecore Headless Services

The Sitecore Headless Services module enables developers to decouple the data application from the rendering application.

Installing Headless Services.

To enable editing and server-side rendering with Sitecore Headless Services, you must meet the following requirements:

• Sitecore 9.0 Update-1 or later, for Next.js, you must have Sitecore 10.0 or later.
• A valid Sitecore Headless Services license. You can check on you license file " Sitecore.JSS".
• You can install Sitecore Headless Services as per the deployment architecture

-Using the package .zip.

-As an Azure Web Deploy Package (WDP).

-In Sitecore Containers.

Upgrade Sitecore Headless Services.

Sitecore headless services depends on the Sitecore CMS version. If you have Sitecore 10.2, then you can use the Sitecore Headless Services version 19.0.0, similarly if you have Sitecore 10.4, you can use the Sitecore Headless Services version 22.x.

So upgrade needs when you want to use the latest version of headless services, you may plan upgrade the Sitecore CMS(XM or XP) to latest versions or relevant versions.

Services and APIs.

The Sitecore Headless Services module provides a suite of REST and GraphQL API endpoints that return JSON-formatted Sitecore data. Developers can choose to work with JavaScript Rendering SDK and the ASP.NET Rendering SDK or other technologies capable of consuming JSON-formatted data.

The Headless Services module contains the following services and APIs:

• App Configuration API.
• Layout Service.
• Dictionary Service.
• Media Handler.
• GraphQL.
• Tracking Service.
• Rendering engines.
• Import Service.
