Often we see a beneficiary desperately looking for our helping hands. He /she may be a stranger, a friend, a relative or a family member like our brother, sister, father etc.
It feels great when we help someone in need.
Numerous quotes can be found in favor of doing a donation, a charity or helping someone when actually the recipient needs it.
“?????????????? ???????? ?????? ????????, ?????? ?????? ??????????. ...
?????? ?????????? ?????????????? ???????? ?????????? ???????? ?????? ?????????? ???? ???????????? ???????? ?????? ?????????? ?????????????? ???????? ?????????? ???????? ?????? ????????. ...
???????????? ?????????????????????? ???? ???? ???? ???????????? ??????. ?????? ??????????, ???? ?????? ???? ?????? ???????? ?????????????????????? ?????? ?????? ???? ???????? ?????? ??????????????????.
???????????? ???????? ????????. ?????????? ?????? ?????? ?????? ???? ?? ???????????????? ???? ???????????? ?????????? ???? ??????????????????. ?????? ?????? ?????????? ???????? ???????????? ???? ????????.
???? ?????? ??????'?? ????????, ???? ?????? ?????? ?????????????????? ???? ???????? ?????? ???????? ????????, ???????? ?????????? ?????? ?????? ?????????????????????????? ?????? ???????? ???????? ???? ???????????????? (???????????????? ???? ????????????????????????). ?? ???????????? ?????? ???? ???????????????? ?????? ???????????? ??????????????'?? ????????.”
….. Don’t you think all these quotes are contextual and cannot be generic?
Often (not always) we see many young brains, especially in the poor or lower middle class families, get carried away emotionally to help their parents at the work and contribute to the earning of the family. They can feel the pain of the needy and are susceptible to be compassionate by compromising with their self-interests.
They crumble down emotionally when they see someone in pain by correlating some pieces of their past experience in similar situations and get ready instantly to support.
By such deeds they get appreciated by the passers-by, friends, relatives, family members etc. and encouraged to continue with their social work from an early age. The degree of selflessness increases to such an extent that they ruin their career. By the time they realize it becomes too late. Every possibility is there, at the later stage of their lives, they do not become financially, socially or professionally established enough to continue giving support to others that they used to do earlier. They are drowned under the surface of their narrow domestic world. Earning the bread and butter for their family becomes tough and top priority for them.
Hundreds of such examples we can find around us. And the human memory is so short lived that all of the selfless humanitarian efforts of these people are eventually forgotten easily. No visible impact of their scarification is realized. Rather they are blamed for their underprivileged status and even termed as careless.
Now let me tell you about the second categories of children and youths. Rarely are they vigilant about the drastic situations of people around them, including their parents and family members. They are concerned about their self-interest only. They prefer to stay among the financially and socially stable children. They like to enjoy a modern lifestyle in the hostel of an established institute in a modern city at a distant/foreign location. They do not hesitate to become parasites on their struggling parents. They simply ignore the “Selfish tag” attached to them by the native society associated with their families.
The career becomes their priority. The Pounds become pennies for them. All the strangers with high-class status become their friends and relatives. And a day comes, success kisses their steps.
Streams of applause come from all the sides to them. The people of their small lane or village become narrow minded and leg-pullers. Their new society becomes ultra wide…wider than their wide mind. They become professionally and financially well established. The hearts of their parents and relatives swell up in pride.
Now they can afford to become philanthropists without compromising with the luxurious lifestyle. If they donate a peanut from their earnings that becomes substantial for the general public. The impact of their charity becomes widely visible. Their footprints on the surface of this earth are depicted to remain for centuries.
So we are bound to praise them. Deliberately we need to re-synthesize their childhood with the chemicals of dedication and re-fabricate their youth with the fibers of perseverance, while describing their biographies. We cannot dare to say that the human memory has become short lived while recollecting their early life incidents.
After the Covid-19 pandemic is over, there is going to be a rebirth of the Travel & Tourism industry. We expect it to become super strong and support the millions of jobless and struggling travel professionals immediately. We are in need of earning now and desperately we are looking for its helping hands. Whenever we hear the news of ‘opening the borders of a country for the international travelers, starting the international flights by a carrier, selling of the packages by a tour-operator, etc.’ we become over ambitious.
Don’t you see all these as immature decisions? Are not we creating the scopes for the virus to mutate even more rapidly and generating the new variants, like- UK variant, Brazilian Variant etc.? If we – the Travel & Tourism professionals are expecting immediate support from the industry, are we doing the justice with it? Aren't we pushing it to drown again and again? It seems, more than the travelers, we the travel professionals need the industry to come to action fast.
By dragging the industry forcefully to battle, when it’s not capable enough to stand, aren't we displaying its weak impression only? Are not we trying to elongate the tenure of this pandemic through this act?
Or should the industry be indifferent about the desperate conditions of the professionals and wait with patience and planning to accumulate the potential and then rejuvenate with strength at a conducive time?
If yes, how long can we wait? What would be the planning for the industry assets, industry professionals, organizations and supporting trades till then? How is the industry going to gain energy during this hibernation?
Who are the competent persons to answer these questions? Maybe every one of us has something to suggest. Many minds working together can achieve great things!
