Sisk monthly: Review of October 2024
Over €150,000 raised for homelessness in Ireland
Close to 50 members of our team in Ireland took part in the Shine A Light sleep-out for Focus Ireland in October, raising awareness and funds for Ireland’s homelessness crisis. They slept at our Dublin HQ, grabbing any space they could around the outside of the building.
This great effort resulted in close to €160,000 donated, the highest amount of money raised by one organisation since the inception of Focus Ireland - Shine a Light!
Congratulations to the team and thanks to everyone who donated so generously, from colleagues to supply chain partners and everyone else in between.

During the works the team removed 66,000 tonnes of soil - which would be enough to cover 60 Premier League size football pitches! To read more about this fantastic project and see even more staggering facts about it, click here.
Topping out at Block O, Glass Bottle
Late in October we hosted a topping out ceremony with our client Lioncor, key supply chain partners and designers to mark the topping out of Block O at Glass Bottle, Dublin.
There are 176 Apartments in Block O on 15 floors over a basement. The top of the building is of 60m tall. The tower has a unitised aluminium fa?ade with glazed balconies. There is also 2km of aluminium fins on the outside and over 10,000m3 of concrete.

Inside Sisk Podcast - Season 3: Episode 7 - The making of Silvertown
Silvertown is a very large, former industrial area on the Royal Docks in East London. It is being regenerated as a residential area and Sisk has been awarded the contract to build the first plot here.
This is a unique project for a number of reasons - the challenging nature of the site, the new modern methods of construction being utilised for the first time, some of the highly specialised carbon-reduction systems in place - to name a few.
In the latest episode of #InsideSisk, we meet members of the Silvertown site team and learn about this innovation in practice, the importance of strong working relationships, and the positive impact that the Silvertown project is having on the local community.

Historic railway footbridge removed for restoration
Also in October, Sisk Rail in the UK successfully removed the existing footbridge at Stroud Station, Gloucestershire, as part of a refurbishment project.
This Grade II listed station, including the footbridge, was originally constructed in 1845. A fantastic, well-planned shift from the team meant the project went smoothly.
The bridge will now be refurbished on site before being reinstalled in January 2025.
