Sir Vince Cable: Government 'feeding' Carillion contracts

The fact that the problems being caused by some of the biggest construction companies are finally being talked about publicly tells you what we have been saying for years. The construction industry is broken and what is going on is a national disgrace! 

The government's own report identified that it is the Specialist Contractors who are funding the industry, and the lifeblood is being sucked out of them by big loss making Contractors. 

We have supported the latest state of the industry survey and of the 506 respondents, 355 were Specialist Contractors representing a broad spectrum of the industry, with 72% being firms with a turnover in excess of ￡1million and some 37% in the ￡5million plus bracket. 

It confirms that there has been no significant improvement in the dire payment situation that the UK construction industry continues to face. 

And 93.23% of respondents said that Trade Associations and Government were NOT doing enough to stop payment problems. 

No surprise when the Government are themselves funding, and are funded by the ones causing the payment problems.
