SIR GAVIN WILLIAMSON HOSTED SOMALILAND SOLIDARITY MEETING AT UK PARLIAMENT- " PALACE OF WESTMINSTER", 19thApril 2022

Sir Gavin Alexander Williamson CBE MP, hosted Somaliland Solidarity Reception on 19th April 2022 at Palace of Westminster jointly with Somaliland UK and Commonwealth Mission, London UK in the wake of the Waheen market fire disaster on 1st April 2022. The event was attended by British MP’s of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Somaliland led by Rt. Hon. Stephen Doughty MP , Head of Somaliland Mission and senior Staff?of the Mission, Senior Advisor of Somaliland Upper House of Parliament, Senior Advisor to Somaliland Minister of Parliamentary and Constitutional Affairs, Advisor to Minister of Mineral Resources?and representatives of UK Communities of London Boroughs, Bristol, Cardiff and many Cities across the UK. The meeting discussed issues such as how the British government could?support Somaliland in the wake of the Waheen market fire disaster and how they could contribute to the relief and development effort in the country. The aim of the Solidarity meeting was to strengthen UK and Somaliland relations in particular with UK members of Parliamentarians and Government, the event consisted of briefings, presentations and exchange of ideas for further fundraising, the meeting was addressed by Sir Williamson, Amb. Abdi Hersi, Hon. Stephen Doughty, MP with presentation by Mr. Ibrahim Yussuf, Advisor to the Minister of Mineral Resources.,

Mr. Abdikarim Abdi Adan, Senior Advisor to Somaliland Minister of parliamentary and Constitutional Affairs/ addressed the meeting and?in his part, conveyed on behalf Somaliland President, Speakers of both Houses of Somaliland Parliament, Ministers, Somaliland MP’s and people of Somaliland an expression of thank you message the UK?the Prime Minister , the Minister of Foreign Affairs, UK Wales Government andCardiff County Council, UK Parliamentarians and the people of the UK for their condolences to the people and Government of the Republic of Somaliland following Waheen market fire disaster.
