Enhancing Safety Standards for High-Powered AC Adaptors in Singapore

Released on September 7, 2023, by the Singapore Consumer Product Safety Office, this circular is crucial for manufacturers and distributors of AC adaptors, particularly those capable of delivering over 100W of power (>100W). These adaptors fall under the classification of Controlled Goods as per the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR). Compliance with safety standards, specifically IEC 62368-1, is mandatory for these high-powered AC adaptors.

The primary objective of this circular is to offer comprehensive guidance on the testing and certification requirements essential for AC adaptors delivering more than 100W of power (>100W) in adherence to IEC 62368-1. This clarification aims to ensure that manufacturers and distributors meet the necessary safety standards outlined in the CPSR, contributing to enhanced consumer protection and product safety in Singapore.

BSMI Updates: New Regulations for IT, Electrical, and Household Products in Taiwan

For electrical and electronic products, obtaining the BSMI Safety Mark is compulsory, involving testing either by BSMI or designated test laboratories. The list of regulated products is periodically updated, with the list of IT products available here.

Recent changes include:

• Updated classification codes (CCC) for Secondary lithium batteries, Automotive video cameras, Sound recording, or reproducing equipment.
• Inclusion of drones (< 2 kg, equipped with cameras, positioning and navigation systems, or connection ports) under Modules II and III, effective from July 1, 2024, under RPC Scheme or TABI Scheme.
• Digital cameras transitioning from the DoC Scheme to RPC Scheme or TABI Scheme from January 1, 2025.

For household appliances and lighting equipment, the updated list, including classification codes (CCC) for products like Self-ballasted LED lamps, indoor lighting, and Aquarium Lighting Fixtures, can be found here.
