Released on September 7, 2023, by the Singapore Consumer Product Safety Office, this circular is crucial for manufacturers and distributors of AC adaptors, particularly those capable of delivering over 100W of power (>100W). These adaptors fall under the classification of Controlled Goods as per the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR). Compliance with safety standards, specifically IEC 62368-1, is mandatory for these high-powered AC adaptors.
The primary objective of this circular is to offer comprehensive guidance on the testing and certification requirements essential for AC adaptors delivering more than 100W of power (>100W) in adherence to IEC 62368-1. This clarification aims to ensure that manufacturers and distributors meet the necessary safety standards outlined in the CPSR, contributing to enhanced consumer protection and product safety in Singapore.
