Sipping the Drama of Life Slowly

Sipping the Drama of Life Slowly

“Life is a theatre set in which there are but few practicable entrances.” ~ Victor Hugo

It is beneficial to accept as early as possible that there is no life without drama, be it professional, family, or something absolutely unexpected and unreasonable. But the fun part is that when you take your life as a movie or a play, the drama becomes an integral part. It is also the only element that makes life interesting and provides you with stories to tell.?

So you might as well bask in this glorious play called life and know that drama is not intrinsically a bad thing, rather how you handle it is what defines its nature.?Being at peace does not mean that you have no disruptions, it simply means that you have tapped the deepest waters of yours and the waves above cannot move you.?

Owning your movie means you get to decide what character you want to play. This is good and bad news at the same time.

First the bad news:-

  1. When we decide who we want to play, we put too much pressure on how to get the best role instead of just being good at the role life has currently put us in.?
  2. We often want to be the narrator, the hero, the side kick and everything in between. The problem is that we want to run the whole show all by ourselves. But how many of you would go to watch a play/ movie which has just one actor? We need supporting actors, and sometimes we have to be the supporting actor for the play to be successful.
  3. We assume that all the drama needs to be solved by us when you can be the spectator at times, and let other elements of your play solve it for you
  4. We get too stuck on one character forgetting that?life is an ever-changing script, which means that we need to change our character along with it otherwise the story will pass us by?
  5. We cannot ignore all the drama, because in this case you no more are playing an active role of any character, in other words, we need to allow the chaos to find order.

Coming to the good part:-

  1. You write the dialogue for your character, so you have great power over the twists and turns of your life
  2. You can be as many characters as you want, there is nothing called a permanent role – this is true for the kind of person you are or want to be, the career choice, and everything else
  3. You don’t have to gulp the whole glass of drama in one day, rather just the way life happens one day at a time, you can sip on the drama slowly and find your way through it?
  4. You don’t necessarily have to get out of the drama, some of it is really good for you – they are the plot twists, and epiphanies that lead you to your next role
  5. It is okay to be backstage at times,?you do not need to be in the spotlight forever. Rather it is the time you spent away from the stage that makes your entrance even more important – not necessarily for others but for yourself.

Life becomes super entertaining when you start looking at it as if you are watching a movie, the characters revealing themselves (including you), the plot unfolding, and being in awe of how all of this has the power to change you greatly.?

When you become an observer of your own life, almost like getting out of your own body and watching yourself, you automatically become more objective, and hence make better decisions.

You also learn to handle all the emotions that the drama brings to you because you can now talk to yourself like a third person who sees all of it and can separate the emotions even if it is for only a minute.?

Sipping the drama of your life, not only makes your life enjoyable but also gives you clarity. Having said that I will now take my own advice and dwell on my life’s drama!
