Sip, Think, Create: We're in This Together, People ??

I want my coffee in the morning—punctuation on that one for sure. Yet, I can’t say that the very best coffee moments I've had are in the morning. They are amazing, but the best? Nope.

Before I spill the beans—just like that, beans sneaked in, how appropriate but how not a coincidence—consider this: an hour to ninety minutes post-wake-up is the golden hour for a coffee boost. Not as soon as you jump out, or perhaps more fall out, of bed. It’s science. It goes by the name circadian rhythm, and we should accept it unless we are a little rebellious in the morning. But writing this, I ought to be responsible and remind you again, it’s science, after all, so let’s try to hold off the wild coffee horses… If that's an expression you can't say, I don't know that, I'm a Swede. ?? ????

Now, let’s see, have you, like me, oh, can’t help but appreciate moments of this kind of deep poetry—well, have you wondered which cup of coffee that waltzes into your day has the most amazing impact on you?

It’s not a given.

I’m talking about those coffee moments when you feel that all your fascinating senses are open. And I mean, OPEN. Like you breathe in the whole sweet world as if there are little messages in the air, and in your coffee cup, ready to show you magical magic. Right there and then you are connected to the part of yourself that often seems to be asleep. Connected to the mystery you are about to solve that's in front of you, and inside of you.

A laptop, a coffee, a mind that feels free to roar, is ready to play. Let the game begin. ??

I've had some of my most creative moments happening in coffee shops.

I remember this one time when we lived in LA: It was late fall and a little colder than usual. I was on my way to my local Starbucks to warm up and meet my hot date; Venti Latte. Being an understanding date, Venti accepts that I usually come as a duo, me and my... ah, laptop. Dang it, I should have named this beauty for occasions like this. Anyway, I had learned that Venti, and, okay Beauty it is for now, makes me get in the right mood to see if some creative thoughts would pop up.

Oh, how I love the atmosphere and the energy you get stepping inside a coffee shop. ?? It’s both hopeful and adventurous, connective and creative. The aromas, the music, and the sound from people chattin' are seductive, making you want to sneak up in a corner and just observe, or take some flashy dance moves towards a smiling face. What a welcoming place.

My intention though, was to be a little less publicly dramatic and instead save the drama for what Venti, Beauty, and I could come up with together, so I calmly sat down to see what would happen. Delight. I felt connected with people, yet I was in my own bubble—dreaming, thinking, smelling, and doing some more thinking, typing word after word. Pause. I looked down at all the words that I was trying to read out loud—well, more in my head, as most people do—only to acknowledge that it seemed like a crazy person had just taken over my laptop.

My fingers seem to have been more alert than my mind. I must have been in a weird haze or something. Was that good or bad?

Oh no, what a mess. ?? I was leaning back in the chair with my date, which I held perhaps tighter than I should, for comfort. It hit me, If I squeezed too tight, Venti might act inappropriately and spill all over me. - I could do the rhyme thing again, but I'm not, so pretend you didn't read this.- So where was I, ok, to spill, that would not be a show worthy of applause, and I would not let that happen.

I’m having a full self-awareness moment. It’s like I’m looking down at the spectacle from a wise place up, hearing an inner voice whispering, "There’s no threat here; it’s your coffee shop where dreams and possibilities can be created if you are open to it." And boy...or girl, was I open. It only took a little encouraging warm convincing self-talk, - more of that please - “You got this girl”, as "You got this woman" is something I never heard so didn't think about that one. Anyway, full of confidence, I knew I was about to take over the takeover of words that were written down, find the ones that I liked, and let the other ones fly off to dreamland. I was in a flow. Emotions, thoughts, and senses were on my side: let it be what it will be. These are creative, self-aware trusting moments, engaging, yummy, powerful moments. ?? ??

Is the coffee industry talking enough about that magic, I wonder?

Sure, taste, flavors, and environment are the backbone of a great coffee experience. But the potential of tuning into yourself, being fully present, having an insight or two, and maybe feeling creative and inspired to solve a problem. Now that's on another level.

Is there a caring and sheering component to add to the whole coffee shop experience, I ponder?

And I think—we are in this together, people. ????

I love it when all my senses are fully awake. When my mind is self-aware, reflecting on my crazy but sometimes interesting way of thinking, and at the same time understanding, this might very well be how all of us are. I am a human after all. It’s a moment of feeling humble and powerful at the same time. To allow yourself to be yourself amongst others' personal journeys that are taking place in front of you. What a gift. ??

Seeing the good in people but also the human in people.

Take out your handkerchief; this is deep. We all have our stuff that we care about and ought to take care of, and we do this in harmony over a coffee. Oh, life, what a pleasant moment. Now add violins, please. ??

Yes, these kinds of coffee moments give me creative bursts, inspiring insights, connection vibes, a bit of fun-crazy chills, and the ease that truly matters…

Coffee cheers! ???

The very best coffee moment, or perhaps the very best coffee I ever had, occurred nearly fifty years ago. It was on a visit to a humble Brazilian farm. The sugary, espresso-esque "cafezinho" was strong, but smooth and had been made by simply boiling grounds then pouring the brew through a cloth to extract the dark elixir. And this all took place, probably not more than 100 meters from where the coffee beans had been grown.
