An unusual learning helped!

When Anoop(name changed) first met me, he was already deep in debt.

By then, he had already tried numerous things to get his business out of debt and nothing had worked for him.

His business was at crossroads as his balance sheet had a huge ‘ unpaid liabilities’ which had turned into Debt and growing every quarter. He did not have many choices before him. He was under terrific stress and was confused as well. He didn’t know what he should do to get out of the situation he was in.

He was desperate to get rid of his debt for aand revive his business revival.

His confusion grew even as his buddies suggested that he take bigger loans to service the existing loans.

After all, his loans has been growing year after year…

Then we got to discuss as he became my mentee.

At times, the case like that one of Anoop, has some obvious angles, but are not put into context.

As any tenacious business person like him would do, Anoop too would not give in to his the tough situation.

He was doing all to keep his business alive and had to resort to fire fighting by handling the creditors and working hard to overcome the limitations, of course, with lot of pressure and difficulty.

In addition, he also was engrossed in making arrangements that “he thought” could help sorting things out to tide over the situation.

He believed that short term solutions can help him manage the business by gaining time, and strangely he also thought that this is the process with which he could revive the business at some stage.

After he became my mentee, both of us got in to discussion like two business owners. My experience of 30+ years did help in deeper understanding which helped him see through misplaced attention.

In the next stage, through a systematic step by step examination, We discussed about a different perspective which has transformed his assumptions and thoughts and the results are showing in the business now…

The major discovery for him was his false assumption, as well as the sequence in his thought pattern which were responsible for blocking the recovery of his business.

As he was wondering, What caused the current poorness the balance sheet, the next level of revelation became apparent. A major cause of the problem which led the debacle in his business was discovered. 

So the entire case was a series of misinterpretations, since the time when the downward plunge started.

Fast forward, he is now back on the track to revive his business after realizing that the awareness, acceptance and understanding of his problems are very very important to handle them.
