Singularity Tech Day 2024 | Summary

"Presentation & Welcome", Quique Martínez Alén , CEO Plain Concepts

Quique Martínez once again welcomed the attendees to the event and provided an overview of the evolution of this technology, its potential, and how it has transformed into a central pillar for companies.

One of the points he emphasized, is the importance of understanding that AI alone is worthless, and that what is needed is: a company prepared to adopt it, data to feed it, a good structure to support it and a usable interface for users to take advantage of it.

After the presentation, we had three inspiring talks in which our exceptional speakers shared how they are implementing AI.

"The Art of the Unexpected: Generative AI and the Road Ahead", Isabel Delgado Garcia , Senior Technical Specialist Azure Data & AI at Microsoft

During her session, Isabel demonstrated how Generative AI leads us towards a world full of possibilities, where creativity and technology intertwine to shape an exciting and discovery-filled future.

"AI at the Service of Professionals, Patients, and the Healthcare System," Rafael Morales Rodríguez , Strategy & Business Transformation Office Lead at AstraZeneca Farmacéutica

Rafael, during his session highlighted specific examples of how AI is being used in the pharmaceutical sector to: Develop new drugs and therapies, Expedite diagnosis and treatment selection, Enhance management of chronic diseases, Reduce costs and improve healthcare system efficiency...

He also discussed some challenges and opportunities presented by AI for the future of healthcare, and proposed strategies to ensure that AI is used in a responsible and ethical manner.

"Repsol's Journey towards Generative AI, from the First to the Second Digital Wave", Emilio Martín , Principal Data Scientist at Repsol

Emilio began by exploring the foundations established during the company's first digital wave, a period characterized by the implementation of advanced technologies that have enhanced efficiency and competitiveness at Repsol. Emilio shared experiences and key successes from this period.

He then transitioned to the second digital wave, a phase of profound transformation where Generative AI is being strategically integrated into our processes and operations. Emilio highlighted Repsol's creation of the first Generative AI Competence Center in the European energy sector, emphasizing both the challenges and opportunities associated with this emerging technology.

We had a half-hour coffee break during which attendees took the opportunity to network and explore some of our most disruptive developments in the demo area, where they could interact with HoloLens and Spot.

"Data ?? GenAI", Luis Velasco , EMEA Data Analytics Principal Architect at Google

Luis explored practical strategies for data preparation, model implementation, and addressing AI challenges in production. He demonstrated how to obtain actionable insights to optimize data-driven workflows, enhance decision-making, and accelerate your organization's AI journey.

"Semiconductors: Driving AI into the Future," Eva Linares , Partner Sales Manager at 英特尔

In her presentation titled Eva showed us how artificial intelligence and business analytics are leveraging the latest capabilities integrated into processors to accelerate AI workloads anywhere, from client devices and the edge to data centers and the cloud.

"EarthScan: leveraging AI for climate resilience", Mauricio Hanzich , CTO at Mitiga Solutions

Mauricio presented EarthScan, the platform that leverages data modeling, Machine Learning, and advanced climatology to provide personalized analysis of climate risks.

"Beyond the Boom: Strategy and Evolution of GenAI at Nestlé", Enrique Mora Ayala , Transversal Emerging Tech Lead at Nestlé Global IT Innovation

Enrique explored how Nestlé has navigated the unexpected technological surge of the past year, focusing on the adoption and scaling of #GenAI within its ecosystem. He also discussed the implementation strategy to integrate GenAI, not only to optimize business processes but also to enhance the day-to-day experiences of its employees.

"From Project to Partnership: An Innovation Opportunity", Sara Hernández Ortega, PhD , Innovation Manager at the BSC

After the lunch break, Sara not only provided context about the center but also shared the new innovation model being implemented to enhance knowledge transfer and create direct and consolidated impact for businesses.

"Development and Implementation of the AI Strategy from a Center of Excellence"

During their session, they presented how this center not only stands out as a leader in managing AI-driven initiatives across the company but also leaves a significant impact on the business environment.

They explored how Grup Mediapro has strategically positioned AI at the very core of every aspect of the value chain within the audiovisual realm, using it as an essential lever driving innovation and development.

"GRWM for AI", álvaro Alegría Meunier AI Value Proposition & Growth at Telefonica Tech

The penultimate session of the day was led by Alvaro, who unveiled the main opportunities and challenges of AI in the future and showcased how Telefónica Tech is preparing to tackle them.

"Sora: A New Horizon for AI-Based Simulations", Javier Cantón Ferrero , Head of Research at Plain Concepts

To wrap up the day, Javier presented Sora, the new model released by OpenAI that opens the door to more than just a video generator. OpenAI refers to these skills of a large-scale trained model as "Emerging simulation capabilities."

He discussed how Sora could be used to generate a training dataset for the next big model capable of conducting 3D physical world simulations useful across a wide range of industrial sectors.
