I had a conversation last week with a fella who owns a referral business. He'd get me additional work and he would take a cut.
Right beforehand, a sista said to me, "Men just say yes and no. They don't mess around considering all shades of maybe, just yes or no.
Whether that's true or not, I have no idea but this is how that nugget played out in our conversation.
He asked what kind of communication training I do. I told him.
He asked my fees. I told him.
For the next ten minutes his sentences opened with, "You'd have to understand..., You'd need to be flexible.... You have to see our side of this...," etc.
I said, No. I don't.
I don't have to understand. I don't have to be flexible. I don't have to see. You need to understand I am not that hungry. You need to see I've worked my way to be where I am today, and you'd have to ask a price that makes it worth my while for you to get your cut.
