Singapore’s Space Economy: The Powerhouse You Didn’t See Coming

Singapore isn’t just a global financial hub—it’s quietly shaping the future of the space economy. While most people picture space as astronauts and rockets, Singapore’s impact lies in something even more powerful: data, infrastructure, and cutting-edge technology that’s transforming global industries.

Why This Matters Now

Space is no longer just about exploration; it’s an economic powerhouse projected to hit $1 trillion by 2040. Governments and private investors are pouring billions into space tech, and Singapore is perfectly positioned to capitalize on this surge.

Here’s how the Lion City is making its mark in the global space industry.

Why Singapore’s Space Strategy Matters

Singapore isn’t trying to compete with NASA or SpaceX. Instead, it’s leveraging its strengths in finance, technology, and logistics to shape the future of space commerce.

If you’re an investor, entrepreneur, or policymaker, Singapore’s role in the space economy presents massive opportunities. The next trillion-dollar space deal might just take off from the Lion City.

Inside GSTCE Media Day: A Deep Dive into Singapore’s Space Future

I had the privilege of attending GSTCE Media Day with my Producer and Photographer on behalf of EnterpriseZone.cc. This pre-event briefing set the stage for Singapore’s rising role in the space industry.

Key Speakers & Announcements

?? Jeremy Chan, Chairman, Singapore Space & Technology Ltd (SSTL) - We had fun chatting about how much I love Singapore that populating the country is one way I show it.

?? Dr. Masami Onoda, Director, International Relations & Research Department, JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency - She had a wonderful answer to my question...

"Looking at collaborations with JAXA and the Japanese corporate venture capital funds, like Woven, backing these startups, how do you see corporate venture capital influencing Japan's space commercialization roadmap?"

You'll have to learn about it in one of the next articles I write. It's SOOO SOO GOOD and a lot of countries can learn from Japan's model.

Trade & Space: Exploring New Frontiers

One of the most exciting moments? Exploring new opportunities in Trade & Space with Tam Nguyen —a conversation that could open up game-changing partnerships in international commerce and space tech.

?? Here’s a snapshot from the event—Tam and I discussing what’s next in space trade!

We had some fun!

One of the most insightful moments at GSTCE Media Day was catching up with Duleesha Kulasooriya , the Innovation Leader at Deloitte Asia Pacific. Duleesha has spent years studying emerging business landscapes, disruptive technology, and the power of ecosystems—so when he speaks, you listen.

During the discussion on Southeast Asia’s role in the space economy, he made a point about the importance of engaging more women and girls in STEM. And then, to my surprise, he brought me into the conversation.

“Casies’s already doing this with her work in STEM programs, especially with young girls. That’s exactly the kind of impact we need in this industry.”

It was a small moment, but it validated so much of what I’ve been working toward—bridging the gap between talent, innovation, and investment in deep tech and space. The fact that someone like Duleesha, who advises governments and top executives, sees the importance of this work means we’re moving in the right direction.

There’s still so much to do, but hearing this from someone at the forefront of innovation is a reminder that what we build today will shape the next generation of leaders, founders, and explorers.
