Singapore Pools Academy: Empowering People for the Digital Era

As new technology continues to emerge and impact how we work, developing digital competence and a digital mindset is critical for employees to stay relevant and for the organisation to accelerate digital transformation.

Building Digital Competence

At Singapore Pools, we foster a continuous learning culture through a comprehensive suite of upskilling and reskilling programmes. In 2022, Singapore Pools Academy launched the Digital Suite, comprising self-learn videos, workshops, and post-workshop coaching to equip employees with the knowledge and skills to confidently utilise digital tools for increased efficiency.

Under the Digital Suite, the Academy offers the one-day iInnovate workshop to educate our business users on streamlining and automating work processes using Microsoft Power Automate. The low-code platform empowers our users with agile tools and customisable features to build tailor-made solutions to serve their needs while staying within IT policies and guidelines.

Boosting a Digital Mindset

Beyond equipping business users with tools, knowledge, and skills, post-workshop, the Academy also engages them in developing automated workflows in an iterative way to ensure they can apply what they have learned and build solutions that meet their needs.

By leveraging Power Automate, our business users have successfully digitised and automated routine tasks, freeing up their time to focus on more value-add work. In addition, by sharing real-life success stories, the Academy hope to help our people see the advantages of automation and motivate them to look for more ways to use automation to benefit their teams and end users.

Our Automation Story: My Learning Space

In Jan 2022, the Academy initiated a project to review employees' training request and registration process to identify areas for enhancement, brainstorm solutions to bridge gaps not addressed by legacy applications and eliminate error-prone manual tasks.

The Academy formed a dedicated team to work on a viable solution by leveraging available technologies to address the challenges identified.?

My Learning Space Workflow

In two months, the project team developed and launched My Learning Space (MLS). MLS is a comprehensive portal for employees to search, register, track, and evaluate courses. It automated the employee training request workflow, streamlined the data population, and provided real-time information through dynamic dashboard.

The team's collaborative effort led to a secure, resilient, and scalable platform to efficiently support the training request and registration process. As a result, the company saved time, resources, and money while enhancing our employee experience.

Digital Suite is available to our charity partners at no cost

Since March 2022, Singapore Pools has extended the Digital Suite to our charity partners to help them develop essential skills to support digital transformation.?

We have enrolled close to 20 social service agencies and supported them in developing and implementing process improvement projects.
